New AirSense 11 Autoset questions
Hi all. I'm trying to avoid going to Lincare in the next town for these answers......plus, it's a holiday today.
I'd been using a Resmed 9 forever. A couple months ago a "Your motor is almost too tired to continue". haha But........it hasn't said that in while and I use it most everyday with good numbers, so it's good that this continued to work, since I had to wait 2 and 1/2 months to get a new one. I'm putting it together today. My question is: Is it mandatory for me to use the very narrow diameter tube they sent with it? I'm asking because I have several old (but never used) tubes that are larger in diameter can use those in the future if it doesn't mess up things with this new unit.
Also.....the filter cover barely stays shut. I know I could tape it, but just wondering if this is normal.
Can I cut my old unused filters for my Resmed 9 to fit this new machine?
Have any of you gotten the iphone app so you can see, supposedly, even more info about your sleep, than shows up on the machine?
I'm sure I'll be back when I start using this. I've washed everything out and hopefully will use it soon. But.......I'm 73 and don't deal with new, complicated things very well. Fingers crossed!
Thanks for your help!

Re: New AirSense 11 Autoset questions
You can use any hose. Your machine has a setting for Standard Hose and Slimline hose. If you switch hoses, change the setting. The hose does not need changing very often...My current slimline hose is pushing 2 years...there is nothing to wear out.

Re: New AirSense 11 Autoset questions
Once you decide on hose, I would suggest that when you are eligible for a replacement hose, you go ahead and get it and just keep it in reserve. As LSAT said, hoses do not really need replacing often. I used the same heated hose on my AirSense 10 AutoSet for 5 years until I got an new AirSense 11 AutoSet last week. However, I had an extra hose (and actually ALL supplies!) in case of catastrophic failure...with my luck it would happen on a Friday night of a long weekend! It's just good foresight.

Re: New AirSense 11 Autoset questions
Thanks LSAT and booksfan. That's what I always thought, but wasn't sure since they sent me the smaller diameter tube with this new machine, that maybe I had to continue to use that type. Hopefully, I'll be able to figure out all the info in the machine, and see if there's a place to change the size tubing. I'm with you two.........I hardly ever buy a new hose, but do keep it clean. It's crazy how often they say to buy new stuff......especially when it appears that none of it is recyclable. Thanks again!
Re: New AirSense 11 Autoset questions
I just got a new S11. It does come with the slimline hose, but I ordered a heated Hose for it. The filter door should stay shut, your door may have been broken. I would have them send you a new door, it just clips in place.
Re: New AirSense 11 Autoset questions
Please don't call it a "S11", Resmed doesn't.

I don't see any reason why you can't trim the air filter material. I'm sure it's the same stuff. I was going to do that with the filters left over from my AS10 but my order of AS11 filters arrived just in time. And 73 is not excuse for not learning something new. I'll be 75 in a couple of weeks (that's painful to see in print ) and I learn new stuff all the time.

I have many Airsense 10 filters left, and I figured that I could easily trim them to work in the Airsense 11 unit.JeffL wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 8:59 pmI don't see any reason why you can't trim the air filter material. I did that, and getting the size correct was no problem, but... when I trimmed my filters, I noticed that the cut edge had loose fibers that could possibly get into the machine, and perhaps my lungs. So.... no go for me. I was able to find compatible filters online that are a perfect fit. Make sure if you trim your current filters, that you won't run into any issue with fibers from the cut edge.

Sealing the edges, either with heat or CA glue is possible.jsmit86 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 08, 2023 9:21 pm. . . when I trimmed my filters, I noticed that the cut edge had loose fibers that could possibly get into the machine, and perhaps my lungs. Dabbing the edges with sticky tape might be enough to remove loose fibers,
but the construction of the filters tends to seal the fibers together.
I would be surprised if there were any loose fibers at all.
Filters are not like velvet or fake fur.

Using the wrong words for things encourages other people to use the wrong words, and THEN when someone new goes to try and find answers, they find fewer correct answers.
It's a disservice to new people.
