For those of you who may have received a replacement Philips DS2 (I just did about a month ago) and relegated it to be stored in a closet, I found that its slimmer design and smaller power brick makes it an idea travel machine, at least for people like me who always require humidification. Yes dedicated travel units simply cannot be beat for convenience but HMEs and the increased noise just doesn't cut it for me.

Chosing to ONLY carry on a cpap is an excellent choice.
Almost anything else can be quickly replaced--but not a cpap.
Never let yours out of your sight.

Just got a new AirMini AutoSet with N20 Nasal pillow.

It keeps waking me up by blowing super hard into my face. Is there a way to fix this, or should I just return it?

You should be creating a topic specific to your issue. Just posting it in a travel CPAP topic is less likely to attract individuals who can help you.

Do you already have a CPAP, or is your AirMini and N20 your just for travel.

If you already have an another CPAP, Are the settings and Mask the same?

If this is your first CPAP, an AirMini may not have been your best choice.

Returning it is a rather broad statement. Returning it in favour of an alternative might be a good choice. Returning it and not having CPAP therapy probably a bad choice.

Well, now I REALLY don't know what to do. Based on another thread on this forum I had pretty well decided to forget about an Airmini. Now I'm hearing posters pop up with fairly good things to say. I think maybe my main concern was the fact that the other thread pretty well trashed the Airmini because "it's so loud". Now I'm hearing that it's not that bad...you get used to it. I don't know what to think!

Can anybody give a real, measurable comparison of the sound levels between the two? Between the Airmini and either an Airsense 10 (what I have) or maybe the Airsense 11? I know this is A LOT to ask...but does anybody have a sound level meter that would be willing to post some real-world numbers?
I struggled with the airmini. The noise from the air outlet where the humidx capsule sits kept waking me up and there was a whistle coming from the machine itself.

All travel units are not as quiet as the best full size machines.
If the AirMini does not work for you, I am not sure that any other's will be much better.

The HDM Z2 is rated as slightly quieter than the AirMini, but there is still some noise transmitted into the mask. I use an F20 Foam mask, which is full face.
There is a little bit of a whistling sound, but I can still fall asleep quickly. The therapy is very good, close the the Resmed in AHI. I traveled this week, and I used it for 2 nights with AHI a bit under 0.5 AHI. Since I was in Las Vegas, I used the HDM Heat/Moisture Exchanger (HME) to supply a little humidity due to the dry climate.

Everyone has different priorities and opinions regarding travel machines. I use one so I can put it in my carry-on and also have my briefcase with me on the plane.
While it is true that in the USA airlines must allow a medical device, they don't have to allow your travel wheeled bag if the plane is full. For me, I like the convenience of the Z2 vs checking my regular luggage and bringing the CPAP in a carry case. Even if the airline will allow the third item, it's not easy to juggle all 3 when boarding a plane.

If you decide to try another machine like the Z2, see if you can get a trial period to find out it it will be acceptable to you.

One thing worth pointing out about noise and the AirMini, that doesn't apply to other travel devices.

The AirMini uses the HumidX, and many people complain the HumidX is the source of a lot of the excessive noise. Other travel devices wouldn't have this particular problem.

That's interesting. There is a potential work around for that. There are adapters available that will allow any mask and standard tube to be used with the AirMini. Other travel units use a similar but slightly different device.

https://www.amazon.com/Heat-Moisture-Ex ... er&sr=8-28

I normally don't bother with these, but I used this on my recent trip to Las Vegas.
It may be worth a try to use standard mask, tubing and one of these to see if it quiets the unit a bit.
On my Z2, this device does not seem to impact the noise as far as I can tell.
