is my DME really Independent

I'm curious to know where to start research wise to see if my local DME is truly an independent brick and mortar business or if he/she is a subsidiary of a larger DME business? Any pointers?

You might try looking up by city business license or by the state regulatory agency for DME's (E.g. California Department of Public Health). Medicare and Medicaid may also have a database of authorized vendors that can help you identify the owner.
