Well as the self-proclaimed "Professor of PAP", Uncle Nicko is sure acting like the guy with a hammer who thinks everything he sees is a nail to be whacked with the one tool he has.
Not all professors are actually competent... Maybe he's got tenure and doesn't actually KNOW anything anymore.
More likely he's setup his own university or college or hall of wisdom.
I like the way you think... Why don't we get together and call ourselves an institute?" (with apologies to Paul Simon)

I am a newbie at this, and I have watched a bunch of his videos before I got my machine, but his info got me off on the right foot. My AHI for my first two weeks is averaging less than 1. :)

I have to say that, a NEWBIE myself, I think I learned a lot of things from his videos, that I appreciated a lot.
I may be missing something...

Like what?
Freeze this moment a little bit longer.

The Newbies seem to appreciate what Nicko says in his videos.
But the experienced/knowledgeable people seem to have big doubts about the guy.
For reasons not clear to me....

Well, as I said earlier, I believe his entry-level stuff (basic knowledge) is OK, so new users should find it quite helpful.

However, there are significant issues with the more complicated stuff and these issues are documented.

Front of house seems covered well enough by Nicko. Web tech seems sufficiently covered by Adam. All they need now is an experienced RRT with a detailed background in sleep to run the forum.

I am a newbie of about 5 months and I can look at that chart and tell you that most likely the person was NOT asleep. Hitting an awake person with more air isn’t going to necessarily make sleeping any easier and certainly isn’t a treatment for SLEEP apnea.

This sort of thing is what the very knowledgeable folks here are picking apart. It gives Nicko the appearance of total poser who doesn’t know squat when he posts comments to try to feign expertise.

If I remember right, during the Phillips recall, the YouTube algorithm was very kind to Niko. It's how I found him and he seemed to be very popular at the height of the recall. Since the recall news was starting to die down a bit he started transitioning to SleepHQ stuff. Prior to the recall he was just another CPAP supply review channel.

Here's some advice you can trust. One day you're gonna look back and think... Holy shit! I wasted half my life in a CPAP forum bitching like a little school girl about an Aussie Youtuber who has caused me no harm. I'm truly honoured that you're on here talking about me every day but come on guys, stop wasting your lives. It's pathetic. Here's a link to a forum you will all enjoy - https://cpap.review/forum

Bad advice can harm other people.

And advice based on greed can harm other people's pockets.

Today I watched one of Nicko's videos: AirSense 11 Problems - Real Customer Reviews
He starts with reading out a whole lot of quotes of complaints by people about the AS11 being noisy, drying out far more quickly because the water reservoir is smaller.
He then goes on to show inserting it in the machine might be more difficult, and saying an imperfect seal may make it more noisy, and shows how to fix that.
And how to fill it without making it leak.

But here's what he doesn't do:
He does not say that with an unproperly sealed humidifier, more air blows out, and of course the tub empties faster
He does not say "that's strange guys, because both humidifiers contain the same amount of water - 380ml at their max according to ResMed".
Guess what he does say:
He says: I have got just the right thing for you to keep the AS11 from drying out: it's an automatic water pump, that contains 3 liters of water and will refill your tank automatically using sensors.

At which point I stopped watching; so I don't know if he mentions the price of this unnecessary marvel. Nor do I know if he talks about the noises this automatic filler does or does not make. I checked their site (takes less time than watching Nicko's marketing)- it costs (special price) $249.

I have no doubt at all that he knows the tubs contain the same amount of water. But he would rather sell this pump from his affiliate. The affiliate is identified as such under the video.
Haven't checked of that video is still there - could be removed of course.

In his first post in this forum, Wandelustralia spoke of Nick in the third person.

For those that interested in finding out a little more about the New ResMed AirSense 11. Nick has the manual and in the video he goes through everything that's new. Funny song at the end also which i'm sure you will all relate to!

I don't know whether "Wanderlustralia" is the creepy uncle, (and youtubers speaking of themselves in third person isn't new, (along with saying "we" all the time because they apparently bought into that "there's no 'I' in team" crap?), but what IS clear is that "Wanderlustralia", whoever they are, is an asshole.
