Another reason not to trust Uncle Nicko

Post by Dog Slobber » Tue Nov 29, 2022 4:30 pm

CPAP Review and SleepHQ's (Uncle) Nicko has lost even more credibility.

In a recent YouTube Short Video he makes the following claims:
  • He has the worst CPAP Machine, hands down
  • It makes Philips look good, that's how bad it is
  • He has a dilemma, ... what this industry needs is competition. That's what yougs need, competition
  • He's torn, to do the review, which you guys need to see
  • ...
He then does not identify which CPAP it is in the video.

This CPAP is allegedly the worst on the market, but he won't state which one. It's all about the hits, the views. And this is from the guy claiming to be concerned about his customers.

Uncle's right hand looks awfully low for a ventriloquist.

YT personality gonna be YT personality. Views is views. Revenue is revenue. I don't begrudge that; I just don't watch it.

And ya gotta upload a vid to yer channel regularly, whether ya have anything to say or not, even if just a teaser. Ortherwise, you lose your audience who all head over to see if Rick Beato (or whoever) just posted anything entertaining that day.

Not sure I'd buy a used car from Uncle Nicko, though.

One good-looking guy, though, I must say.

I mean, the dummy, not Nicko.

I guess Adam loaned it to him?

Why didn't Zonker warn me this sort of thing might happen?

Bet the machine is a ResMed BiPAP.

I decided he was full of horseshit back when he put up this clickbait (don't watch it, just look at the pic) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdtAVk2R_FY

He's just concerned with his cu$tomer$, and how much he can get out of them.

While I don't agree with everything Jason says, and he's somewhat of a goofball at times, at least he's not a sleaze.

Guess we can summarize it as "awfully low".

With that I would say cpaptalk has just crossed the Rubicon...

I am a newbie at this, and I have watched a bunch of his videos before I got my machine, but his info got me off on the right foot. My AHI for my first two weeks is averaging less than 1. :)

Great to hear!

Can't argue with success. :)

I'm not actually familiar with his stuff, myself, but anything that helps normalize and highlight PAP use and optimizing pressures and empowering us as patients is generally a good thing, from where I sit.

Yeah, he seems to be OK for entry-level stuff, and admittedly, the points of contention affect only a small percentage of users.

IMO I think the point has been made-- poor advice will be fire-tested.

That is, if enough concerned, knowledgeable people remain in that group.
