Post by braveelk10 » Mon Nov 28, 2022 6:38 pm

Morning after first us of Luna machine experienced tingling in left arm, and shoulder blade pain which has entered my arm from the rib cage area. my hand and fingers are numb. could it be getting too much air in my system.
i am two weeks in severe pain now.

see your doctor as soon as possible! haven't heard of such a reaction to cpap in the seven years i've been here. something is going on and you need to get treatment.

fairly confident you aren't getting too much air in your system.

again, see a doctor!

but that's enough about them.

I totally agree!
Call your doctor ASAP--or even go to the ER.

Do you sleep on your left side? Effective CPAP can make you sleep pretty heavily, and if you're not tossing and turning as much you might be cutting off the blood supply to your arm for extended periods.

Of course, left arm tingling is also a big red flag for heart attacks, so you might want to get checked out.

I agree with Zonker that you need medical attention. Left arm pain and tingling, in men especially, can be a serious sign of a heart attack. You should call 9-1-1 as you say the pain is severe. It may turn out to be nothing, then you can be glad, but you need to be seen ASAP to sort this out.

CPAP does not cause this kind of pain.

Look up thoracic outlet syndrome... it'll either fit or it won't - a neurologist could tell you though.

If he was having an MI, he would have had it by now with those symptoms.

I disagree. Every heart is different--some attacks come fast; others are slower.
But they still come.

Call 911 now.
The stakes are too high to wait, guess, or listen to strangers on the Net.

His symptoms fit TOS - look it up - and I do have a basis for knowing what I'm talking about.

Is there a real Physician, MD or DO, in the house?

1. When starting CPAP, some people report pain in the rib cage supposedly from "a different way of breathing".

2. Pain in the arm and shoulder blade could be from sleeping in a different position than before CPAP. Maybe the new user feels he must sleep very still on his back in order not to interfere with the mask and hose.

Of course, none of us know what has caused your pain. Are you concerned enough or is it bothering you enough to see a doctor?

A real physician (MD or DO) won't give medical advice to a stranger on the internet. And nobody else should be "diagnosing" this type of pain complaint either, even if the same exact symptoms turned out to be Martian flu for them, and they are certain these symptoms fit. These symptoms warrant immediate MEDICAL attention. I sure hope Braveelk10 got some instead of listening to the ones who want to play doctor on the internet. I hope Braveelk 10 is still with us. Braveelk10, please check in.

Denial is also a heart attack symptom. "Oh, I've had the pain for days, it's not bad enough to be my heart" is probably carved on someone's tombstones.

My Father-in-law, a doctor, had chest pains. So he drove himself to the mall to buy gifts for his office staff, because that's what you do when you're having a heart attack  . Then he drove himself to the ER. And coded as he stepped in the door. They revived him, but it's damn lucky my Mother-in-law didn't kill him for that stunt.

Chest pain, arm tingling = 911, not listening to a bunch of yahoos on the internet.

Certainly not for free.

Cardiac death is increasing in women as well.
Neither sex has a monopoly on being bullheaded.
And women have the additional burden of doctors with pre-conceived notions.
I never saw a cardiologist until I was about to start chemo--at 74!
Now I have to deal with the consequences.
