What Would Be the Ideal n30i Replacement?

Post by RobertS975 » Sat Nov 26, 2022 7:56 am

Both my wife and I have been using the n30i nasal masks for years with great success, the original version of the nasal cushions. We've tried the newer version cushions, and it was night and day in the bad way. Both of us had miserable experiences with the newer version, constantly having to "adjust" because of leaks and noise. I see from the board that this is not a rare occurrence!

While we do have a decent supply of the clamshell packaged cushions, eventually I fear we will need to seek a replacement as the new cushion design simply does not work for us. In the hope of saving us from experimentation, what would be the ideal replacement? I think that we both love the top of head swivel feature.

There is no one solution fits all, "ideal" solution.

Try a P30i, it uses the same frame, so your existing mask frmes will still work.
Try a Philips DreamWear, it has a similar formfactor
Try a ResMed N30

Does anyone know whether ResMed is aware that many people have an issue with the new version, and do they even care? For us, it isn't just the venting.... it clearly is constructed either out of different material or to different specs than the original, which somehow leads to a greater chance of leaking and requiring adjustments.

The issues with the new n30i mask have been noted before. You should contact them to add your voice.

I have also heard of the new versions of the F30i being inferior to the F30. I tried the F30i and I am not impressed it makes me leak very much. Tried it on once, might fit others better. Have that to give away too.

One try is a poor trial of a mask, especially if you have the wrong size.

Often, these problems can be prevented by watching youtube videos on fitting the exact model. After receipt of a mask, carefully watch more videos on fitting and adjusting.

Some people prefer the the changed n30i design.
  • They like the diffuser, quieter with no jet stream
  • They like the softer silicone, without the hard plastic jamming into your face
  • They can side-sleep better without it being pushed off face
The design change could mean a different size better addresses your fit, have you tried a different size in the new pillow?

Having said that, a change as substantial as the n30i (v1) vs n30i (v2), at the very least should have had a name change.
