seems like the only tricky part would be figuring out if it is the hose on the mask or where the hose is coming out of the back of machine

Hadn't thought of that Lynn, but I have used TWO different masks the past few nights . . . and EVERY night has had very Large Leaks, so I doubt it is from a mask hose. Thanks for thinking of that possibility, though. So if any hose is the culprit, it would have to be a tiny hole in my ClimateLine Heated hose that is three years old. I have a bookcase headboard on my bed, and route my AirSense hose over the headboard, which drags it against the edge of the wood . . . so that might have created a tiny tear in the hose. Tomorrow I will order a new ClimateLine from cpap.com and see if a new hose on my APAP will solve this frustrating problem!

hopefully a simple fix aka new hose

Ack!! . . . I was cleaning my Humidifier water chamber of the AirSense 10, and found a long crack down the side. It hasn't leaked water yet, but I'm wondering if this could have anything to do with my Large Air Leaks! Does anyone know?

Today I'm ordering a new ClimateLine Heated Hose & Water chamber!! Hope I can pay for overnight delivery.

JoyD.

I've been trying to reach CPAP.COM all morning & keep hearing a click cutting my call off. I wondered if it may be a National Holiday & nobody's working . . . but it isn't. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY I can't get through to Cpap.com today using the phone, 800-356-5221, posted on their website??

Joy, I just tried the number and it worked fine. Did you dial 1 before the 800 on a mobile? If not then maybe that was the issue?

Lynn, I never use the "1" when dialing on my iPhone - but maybe that was the problem. HOWEVER . . .TODAY I FOUND THE HEATED HOSE & THE WATER CHAMBER locally at a DME for the same price as cpap.com so I snatched them up so I'd have them to USE TONIGHT. YAY!!!

So tomorrow OSCAR will tell us whether my WORSENING LARGE LEAK problem was from either a teeny hole in my old heated tube -OR- the cracked humidifier water tank! I sure hope one of them is the reason so the leak problem is solved at long last!!! If not, I have no idea where I'll go from here.

The weird thing is that last night's OSCAR results showed an AHI of 0.86 (my recent lowest yet). . . yet the Large Leak was 49.45%, the largest yet. I felt fully refreshed when I woke up after 8 hours of sleep.

I dunno if you need the 1 or not but figured it couldn’t hurt to try.

glad you found what you needed.

they say the machines can adjust well enough up to a certain amount so maybe you were under the wire.

Well, Pugsy . . . last night I replaced both my questionable Heated Hose AND my cracked Humidifier chamber. Here is my OSCAR report this morning:

Very disappointing to see the LARGE LEAKS remaining! l had my mouth taped, and changed out my AirSet P10 pillow mask with my ZEST Nasal mask at 3:20 AM. LARGE LEAKS everywhere!

I think my next step is to get a BLEEP DreamPort. What do you all think?

Ewwww.

If the tape over the mouth hasn't come loose....and we are using a new hose and a new water chamber....that leaves mask movement as the cause. I can't think of any other reason for that much leak.

As far as trying the Bleep....it doesn't move unless the adhesive comes loose.

eww ugly

Is there a reason why you only use epr during ramp? Is it possible that without epr you are moving the seal a bit upon exhaling?

Does anyone know what the plus essentials is? I switched mine from standard to soft and had a wretched time. Timing may have been a coincidence but it still leaves a bigger question of wth is the machine doing?

Sorry so late to the game but your temp setting is really low also and not sure if that’s contributing?

when my nose is stuffed my mouth pops open. I blew the tape open on the corner of my mouth.

thoughts to consider.

Can mask leaks really be that bad and not wake you up?
Of course, we start thinking about stretched out headgear(s) as a cause.
But I wonder....
I was reminded of something I saw on page 27 of the AS10 clinical manual:
https://www.respshop.com/manuals/ResMed ... %20her.pdf

Pay attention to images 4, 5, and 6. The part where you insert the hose can be released and taken out.

I wonder if whatever cracked the older water chamber has anything to do with that internal disconnect -- leading to those massive leaks.
I know - the leaks are intermittent, and you'd expect a more stable leak from a disconnect.
But on the other hand, you'd also expect an experienced user of 13 year not to run into such massive leaks all of a sudden.... They seem to happen immediately when the pressure goes up, they're never low or intermediate, they're never gradual.

Did the machine fall and possibly knock that hose inlet out of place?

Actually I was wondering if you have a backup machine?

Can you test out the masks that way?

If a backup gives better results then perhaps it’s a question of settings or something on your primary machine being amiss? Maybe a warranty issue?

I wonder about your settings as well and if you have a backup, take note of whether the last used backup settings are different?

I was following from the start but went back to reread what you have tried already.

Thoughts: in addition to trying a backup machine if you have one, you said you have a local dme that might be able to help you fit a new mask if you head that direction?

You said nothing has changed in 6 m. revisiting this my sinuses really started to act up a few weeks ago. I believe it is a combination of leaves, falling and being moldy from moisture and the heat has been on a few times, potentially drying me up.

I look at all of the flow limit stuff on your chart and it looks an awful lot like the stuffy nose from hell. I am not sure where you live, but I wonder if this could be a possibility?

I don’t have the a S 10 but I do have the a S 11 and there is a removable portion next to the chamber. I think that is a good thing to pursue as well.

Lynn,
1. I only use EPR during ramp because I thought that using EPR "all the time" can increase Centrals (?). Also, I just don't feel pressure when I breathe out, so didn't think I needed EPR. (BTW, I only have ramp set for 10 minutes. I get up 2-4 times nightly to use the bathroom which could add a lot of ramp time added up if ramp was longer, and don't feel I need ramp anyway).
2. If I set the temp setting higher I get hot and sweaty. I only increase the temp of the heated hose in the Winter when it's real cold.
3. I haven't been having any problem with a stuffy nose. (When I do, usually in the Winter, I use Flonase spray).
4. Re: the Tape, tonight I'm going to do a BETTER JOB of taping; I have been leaving the corners free & thought that was sufficient to keep my mouth closed . . . but someone pointed out to me that air can still escape in the corners and I need to be taping beyond my lips on the sides.

Thanks for your comments & ideas!

"can" in about 1 in 7 people.
"Will"? not necessarily, even in those 1 in 7

Not unless you want it.
