Without reading all the comments, my 1st thought is that men seem to snore more as
a result of apnea. Which makes it
a much more visible, er audible, problem. Symptoms in women I believe tend to be more subtle based on my reading, and many such as fatigue, depression, and memory and concentration issues can be blamed on lots of other things (often hormonal). So it's got to be
a bit of
a diagnostic puzzle.
I can't tell you how many times I've been told that I'm just
a woman and [insert ailment] is part of life now.
Believe it or not YESTERDAY I had
a woman tell me that women just don’t sleep well. I disagreed.
Maybe the bigger problem is the males fall deeper to sleep and/or simply don’t hear thier bed partner’s snoring. Thus lower reporting rates.
We just don't let them tell anyone we snore. Lol.

I could not convince my wife to be tested for Sleep Apnea, so i just happened to mention the fact that she snored and would stop breathing when she slept. Our doctor scheduled her for
a sleep study. At first, she was upset with me, but once she started using her machine she began to feel better almost immediately. She has used her machine for over five years.
But is she speaking to you yet?
The really maddening thing is my husband told the doctor I snored and stoped breathing and the doctor insisted I get tested. I told my husbands doctor that he snores and quits breathing and my husbands doctor did nothing. 🤬.

Frankly, I do believe post-menopausal women
have poor sleep, or at least the perception of poor sleep. Yes, most studies show the numbers look good, but that doesn't help much (the ol' "The surgery was
a success, but the patient died" thing).
Referring to Wisconsin again:
It is possible that menopause negatively affects components of sleep not reflected by polysomnography; the contradictory associations of menopause with objective and subjective sleep quality emphasize the complexity of the perception of diminished sleep quality and the need to better understand the aspects of sleep reflected by different measures. Alternatively, subjected to lay media reports that emphasize sleep problems in menopause, menopausal women may expect to have sleep problems and consequently underestimate their sleep quality.

So, getting Biblical again, is it
a self-fulfilling prophecy? Or do post-menopausal women need more sleep in order to function?

Because as we are now moving into generalizations and stereotypes, I guess I am just as guilty!
So does that mean it can be considered an unfair stereotype to reject all generalizations as bad?
Generally, there is (or was) at least some basis for stereotyping.
At least it's
a step up from monotyping.

Let's hope maybe one day the genotyping and phenotyping will become more perfected!

There's overboard and then there's...
So the WordSearcher shows 297 words with "type" in some form in them.
I think we should write
a song using "All I Really Want To Do" (Dylan's version) as
a template except every line needs
a word that contains "type".

Although when I first heard Cher's version I said "Wow! That babe can really belt out
a tune!"
Wonder how'd she'd compare to Tarja, Floor or Adele Dazeem on
a level playing field...

I am more inclined to believe that
a woman going through menopause and actively having night sweats is viewed the same as
a post menopausal woman not bothered by night sweats, and then categorized as "menopausal" with no distinction.

I'm just
on board with more precise prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in medicine:
The integration of genotype and phenotype at the individual level can lead to
a more precise pathway of diagnosis and therapy, as is the main concept for precision medicine. In addition, an individual's genotype also provides information to detect the risk for health conditions before they occur. Effectively integrating genotypic and long-term dynamic phenotypic information is also
a great challenge for precise health management across
a lifespan.--

I consider that song to be for the Byrds.
But there are no level fields anymore, since it's all mostly about the tech used by the guy in the booth--or at the board, live.
Might be cool to hear Dylan live through an Autotune turned up to 10, à la modern Cher, tho. Might give him another Newport-'65 moment to notch his belt! I understand that the booers actually made up less than 13% of the audience.
