I should have joined this forum sooner (or pressed my Dr for more information before just trying to figure it out for the past 4 months).
That's OK. Your doctor doesn't have that info anyway.
Unless he has been sleeping successfully with CPAP for years,
and tried many different mask
and asked his patients how they had solved the problems they had run into,
and listened carefully to their answers,
andtried them....
Doctors are trained to diagnose and prescribe. They have no special knowledge about the ins and outs of living with the prescribed therapy. Sometimes, not even basic knowledge of that.
A diabetologist is not the person who teaches you how to use a CGM or an insulin pump
An orthopedist is not the person who coaches you for an ironman (he's not even the person put the cast on your broken leg, nor teaching you how to use crutches when going up and down stairs).
And an organic biochemist it not the professional you would necessarily turn to for great meal recipes.
Thank God for cpaptalk.
And thanks too to
www.cpap.com, the forum's sponsors who have created this forum, and never put ads on it, and lets us recommend whoever we want.
Finding cpaptalk (in 2005, mind you) was the best thing that ever happened to me in the CPAP part of my life.
