Nice thing about CPAP is that it only happens during sleep with lights out, when only the cats and special forces with night vision are able to see it.

Many may think of firefighters or fighter pilots if they need a daytime analogy.

What helped me was when I read a poster here years ago who said she would continue to use her CPAP for the allergen filtering and customized humidity even if her OSA went away. As a severe allergy sufferer, that hit home for me in pointing out that for me (and others) PAP use tends to have side benefits instead of side effects.

Well, they still might see me getting ready for bed or going down the hall to the bathroom.

Regarding allergies, I use an air purifier and humidifier in my room when needed. So, PAP isn't absolutely necessary just for that but if it works for her that's great! Definitely good to focus on the benefits.

Great news, kitty came up on the bed last night even with my CPAP on. She was more cuddly when I took it off, but at least she stayed most of the night.

Sooo the weather is warming up a bit and I'm waking up suddenly with night sweats again. Dammit! Damn all female hormones. My face and hair are sweaty under the mask and headgear, and the mask is farting.

I changed sizes last night which seems to have helped reduce the flatulence a little. My next step is to get some liners.

I bought a $200 cooling blanket that's supposed to help. It does help somewhat and feels like a luxurious cloud, but the internal heat source just won't be beat.

There is a cooling gel foam mattress topper also. We tried it and I was so frozen I couldn't sleep in the summer in Arizona. I have to say it worked great if you can tolerate the cold.

Thank you, I'll look into that! At this point it's a choice between shivering and sweating. I'm shivering a little right now because I'm barefoot, but the instant I put shoes on I know I'll be hot.

My gf was taking black cohosh root for the flashes and ashwaghanda to help too. You could ask your doctor of course. I have this in my back pocket for when I am beyond peri and into full blown menopause.

Another option if you find you really hate your mask is to ask your DME what their return\exchange policy is. They have your same version of your mask without the “i” which has a basic strap and not the silicone going up the sides to the top. That might be a better first step to a) maybe find a mask you are familiar with but without the added facial contact and b) will give a better idea before springing for mask liners and c) exchange within the time limit if you have a time limit. I got rid of the “i” version of my mask at 3 weeks and was glad I did. I already knew how to wear it and it’s more comfy and not so noisy! My tmj was grateful too. Search for your mask without the “i” on cpap.com to see the difference

Speaking of face farts, lansinoh lanolin “nipple cream” helps form a seal and usually well tolerated by skin. 100% lanolin and avoids petroleum jelly that breaks down silicone.

I don’t know if charts show if one is mouth breathing or if it can be determined from charts or not (if and when you ever felt comfy posting I don’t know if they can tell) but there are far cooler mask’s that make minimal contact on the face that might work for you along with maybe taping instead. Something to consider if you have options to exchange within a time frame. (rather than necessarily going with a cloth liner).

Edit: It’s possible the sizing issue may solve some of your problems. As suggested an exchange might help but you have to know which size you need cuz you won’t get a multipack when you exchange, most likely. You might go for the Airfit F30 (no i) from your DME exchange and Also if you wanted to try a totally different mask ie P10 or N30 nasal mask you can probably pick up a brand new unopened one on ebay or facebook marketplace for less than half the cost.
