What are all your settings? Your little problem exhaling...that's easily fixable but we need to know what you are using now.

You are going to want the provider manual if you don't have it already. It's different from the user manual.

Not sure if you're being sincere or facetious, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

The good news is you got it and it's "not bad at all." There will be times you feel better about it and times you want to throw it across the room. We've all been there. But this is a good start. If you can figure out what the settings are to tell us what the EPR is (Exhalation Pressure relief), if it's not already on 3 we can tell you how to increase that so you don't feel like you have to breathe out against pressure). And in a few days you'll be used to breathing out against pressure and it ceases to be an issue. I have relatively high pressures, and I don't use EPR because my first machine had an algorithm that made it very uncomfortable and noisy with the pressure fluctuating. But I remember it felt like hard work to exhale those first few nights. And the ResMed machines have a much smoother algorithm that is much more comfortable.

Also, most of the time a "ramp" is set on the machine. That means it starts out at the very lowest pressure and is supposed to gradually increase with the idea that when it gets to a higher pressure you'll be peacefully asleep. Only it doesn't work that way because it can feel like you are not getting enough air. And EPR doesn't work at the lowest pressures. So we can tell you how to adjust that so it feels better if you experience that.

1. Kitty is totally freaked out. I think she thinks a snake is attacking my head. Poor thing.
2. I was actually suffocating before. I didn't know there were nostril holes I needed to match up with! 🤪
3. The air moving past my ears is a little noisy but not too bad.
4. I was pretty sure that Mom moving in would be the final nail in the coffin of any hope for a post-divorce romance but I was wrong. I mean the cats closed the lid, but the lid is firmly on now.

I feel like I want to ask- is it the cat or kitten freaking? Give her time to get used to it and don’t be hard on yourself that ahe has to get ised to it. Your health is too important.

The kitten currently sleeps by herself in the guest room. It's my resident cat who's upset, and I feel bad because this is our cuddle time, but she'll get used to it in time. I just wish I had a photo of her expression. It was priceless.

You tube is your friend when it comes to crochet. I hadn't crocheted in years and I used to get so frustrated with the stupid directions. Now I can watch a video its so much easier. I've picked up a lot more crafts now that I've discovered you tube. Lol.

Last night went pretty well as far as getting the gear on, testing the seal and falling asleep.

Until I woke up twice with my head in a hurricane. Gale force winds ripping into my nostrils.

THIS is what my ex couldn't stand. What he absolutely hated. I don't understand the purpose of it. The respiratory therapist didn't say anything about it ramping up during the night so maybe it's malfunctioning, but there is no way I'll ever get used to being woken up by screaming wind forced into my body!

Added: I did some research on air pressure, googled how to check the settings, and mine is on 5-20. I don't think this was customized at all. My sleep study was a home study 2 years ago, pre-Covid. (meaning, before my Covid infection that really changed a lot for me regarding my health). I think they just got a machine and said, "Here you go."

You are most likely correct about the settings. That’s where this board is so helpful.

Get your ex out of your head. He isn’t helping you now.

It’s important to get the SD card in there. You won’t know which settings to change until you get at least one night’s data. Subsequent changes as you get more data.

We have been asking about your settings and not just pressure ranges. When you see home screen with sleep view and options you press and hold both of these (ling hold) it turns grey or white and then you are in clinical mode where you can check and change all settings under “options “. When done you hit exit.

It’s also helpful to know you AHI during your ancient sleep study. You should ask your doctor for a copy of it AND a copy of your cpap prescription. You should have both in hand.

Someone with experience will help figure out the mask. Watch youtube videos about your mask and how to fit it.

The therapist just took the machine out of the box, hooked it up, and that's it. Whatever settings are in there are the factory default.
