I just received my recall email today, a week after I selected to get replacements for my two series 60 System One's from the link I got here.
I ordered an AirSense 10 with a free mask for $599 this Monday. I should be here in 2 more days. The AirSense will be my main CPAP and the Philips replacements will be for backup and travel.
I am guessing the 12v Philips will still run longer on a battery than the 24v Resmeds. My up to this point loyalty to Philips for my CPAP machines is shattered. If they had handled the recall better I would still be a loyal Philips customer.
I bet two months from now the Dreamstation 2's will be going for $200 on CraigsList.

I received the same e-mail except that Philips only offered $25. I elected to have them replace it instead.

I had the same thought myself, my 12v System One would be more efficient. I'm not sure now that I see the Resmed Airsense 11 uses a 65w power supply. Both the Resmed Airsense 10 and the Philips System One 60 Series use 90w power supplies. Something to look into. There are a ton of options for 12vdc power sources. 24vdc is pretty easy to come by also. Two 12v in series or the multitude of power stations, power banks and battery packs that output 24vdc.
As far as the recall goes, I'm still deciding on my System One 60 Series. I'm either going to have them fix it or just pull the foam out myself and save it for a back up. Definitely not selling it to them for $50 since I paid more than $2000 for mine.

Got my email today and I'm pretty frustrated.
I'm only saving my old machine as a backup and it's in my "go bag" in case we have to evacuate for a fire and don't have time to pack carefully (we live in an area of California Wildfires and have had to evacuate twice in the last 5 years, fortunately with enough time to prepare).
Because all my medical care is through Kaiser I don't see them providing the prescription since my machine was already replaced a few years ago with a ResMed.
Considering I didn't die or develop cancer after 6 full years on the PSR1, I'm going to hold on to it for emergencies and take the $25 bucks. But that's a lousy compromise. As usual, in a class action suit, the lawyers win millions. The people who were harmed get bupkes.

Considering you have to return the machine to Philips to get the meager $25 or $50 payment I will keep my machines for backups should they not replace them as originally promised.

Are you sure of this? I haven't seen one way or the other. Some of the people that have said they have received replacements have not mentioned if they had to send their old machine back or not. Or if sending it back is a requirement or a request? Hard to tell with all the different information out there and none of it actually coming from Philips as far as requirements and the actual procedure. With the number of units they have to deal with you think they would be a little more organized and informative.
My guess is that the person ultimately responsible for this recall project is incompetent.

I believe that many medical and industry people now consider the entire company to be laughably incompetent on every level possible. I have literally heard docs laughing at/about them when discussing how bad they've blown it with every single decision--just before shaking their head about the damage and setback done to the reputation of PAP-therapy in general with other docs and with patients.
I will be surprised if they survive in the home PAP-treatment sector at all with any shred of reputation left with anyone anywhere. Might be time for selling off the parts to a Chinese company before turning off the lights and all going home. I wouldn't take ownership of the brand name if offered big bucks to take it off their hands.
Not that I feel strongly about it or anything.

I could not have stated it better.
We can hope it will only be a matter of time until those stinkers are gone,
and honest companies get a chance to rebuild the public opinion of cpap in general.

I do recall reading in the fine print if you choose the cash payment - they have to receive your machine, ostensibly to ensure the machine is no longer in use and properly disposed of, and with the added benefit to Philips of getting potential evidence out of your hands. I won't take the money.

"OPTION 1 - Financial payment for return of affected units: Removing affected products from use is an important part of our remediation program. We also know many patients have waited for some time for a solution. Therefore, we are offering financial payments to patients of $25 per System One, 50 Series device returned to us. The payment that we are offering is to help ensure affected units are no longer in use. It will be paid via check when we receive your System One, 50 Series device"

Not really sure but I think Philips supplies return postage and expects you to place the recalled one in the box that the replacement arrived in and send it back to them.
hopefully someone who has received a replacement machine will answer this.

Youtube has videos on how to open the system one up and remove the offending foam. It seems a pretty easy procedure. You need two different torx bits that are inexpensive if you don't already have them.

I got a DS2 as a replacement for my recalled DS1. It came pretty soon, actually. Because I still had a very old CPAP machine (F&P HC-=231) on hands from years ago, I didn't have to go without or used the the recalled machine one I learned of the recall.
While the DS2 appears to be an adequate machine, I'm OK with it.
However, in light of the way this company has behaved, I don't want my next machine to be a Philips. They will be able to remain in business now due to the CPAP shortage, but I can't see that this business can be viable long term.
