Just how is rice supposed to remove the moisture, given that the rice has been exposed to ambient moisture already?

It's a nice myth though.

as always zonker is so helpful but never has anything for the OP just more work for Pugsy
likely the reason the forum database filled up before Pugry taught you how to link to them

Let's make a couple things clear.

ALL of Zonker's gifs and cartoons are hosted off site.....absolutely none of them are within the forum attachment storage and they are NOT contributing to the attachment storage issue.

And I am the one who told zonker about linking elsewhere and explained how to do it.

Get your facts straight before getting snippy.

NOW BACK ON TOPIC......further derailing and snide snarky crap will be promptly removed.

Last night I pulled my BiPAP off of my nightstand in my sleep. - as I woke up I rolled over and dragged the thing off of the counter.
Of course, it dumped water everywhere and I dont know if the machine currently works right etc and am hesitant to use a machine that may be water damaged.
But my question is: what is the best way to stop this happening in the future? clamps? extending the night stand out all the way to the bed? a net? or just hope and pray that this $2500 mistake doesnt become another $2500 mistake.

Cat litter, instant couscous, instant rice, and instant oatmeal all performed better than uncooked white rice ...

uncooked white rice placed dead last in effectiveness as a drying agent. Here's the list, from best to worst.

Silica gel - 6.1 mL lost
Cat litter - 5.5 mL lost
Instant couscous - 5.0 mL lost
Instant rice - 5.0 mL lost
Instant oatmeal - 5.0 mL lost
Uncooked white rice - 4.0 mL lost

I wonder why you wouldn't just set the cellphone (or CPAP) in front of a small fan?

All good ideas for materials with moisture absorbing characteristics. Do be careful though of dust that the material may add to the environment.

The fan is not a good idea as it will just blow around the water inside the object, not help draw it away from critical electronics.

I used to use 91% (DEF NOT 70%) rubbing alcohol to clean electronics off.

Once I disconnected the iphone battery, the entire phone can be fully submerged in 9!% and it would clean up the crud.

Not sure that would be particularly good for a pap machine but you can use rubbing alcohol to clean off electronic components safely.

There's always compressed air.

I am surprised that no one has mentioned placing the PAP on the floor. Seems like an obvious solution.
I've had my PAPS on the floor for the past 18 years. Is there a problem with doing that?

Excellent idea. Keep it at its lowest point. I've done that.
I remember thinking about that but was promptly distracted.

fwiw - I kept mine in a clear plastic container w/cover large enuff (along with filters and other accessories) on the floor when I 1st started.
