LEARNING TO USE OSCAR FOR BETTER SLEEP

Post by kkmcewen » Wed Aug 17, 2022 7:52 pm

New CPAP user of about three weeks. So far, I have an average AHI of about 5.5 but would love to use the Oscar data to increase my sleep quality. Could someone look at my data from last night and give opinions? Large increase of AHI last night.

For the night in question, most of the problems are clear airway events. This could be an indication that you are awakening often. Do you remember awakening several times? How is your sleep hygiene? How much and when do you consume caffeine?

ahoy!

if it were me, i'd raise that minimum pressure. you can see that the pressure goes above your min setting of 5 and never really goes back down. i would suggest a setting of 7.

this will give the machine a jump on all of those events you're having.

ggod luck!

Well, not necessarily considering their clear airways with not many obstructives.

i know they won't fight the clear airways. i was looking at the rest, thinking that the clear airways would dissipate over time.

There is the possibility that some of the central apneas may be treatment-emergent and go away in time.

When newly on PAP therapy, the body breathes more efficiently and blows off more carbon dioxide, which causes the brain to not send out the signal to inhale. When normal CO2 levels resume, the brain sends the signal to inhale.

After the body becomes adjusted, which varies from person to person, the treatment-emergent centrals go away.

The central apnea index is worth keeping an eye on. If centrals stay high, perhaps you will need another type of machine known as ASV. Those are pretty expensive but they will handle centrals.
