Airsense 10 CPAP (basic model) and using OSCAR

Post by Oday03274 » Wed Aug 17, 2022 9:26 am

Hi all, I'm new here. I'm about to get a new CPAP after 10 years without (never could get it to work for me but am going to try again) and I've opted to accept the Airsense 10 CPAP basic model because they have it in stock vs the 11 which is apparently on backorder. So, the question is, will I be able to get detailed data with this model? I read someplace else that the AS 10 basic "CPAP" model only provides summary info??
Thanks in advance for you time and insights!
Patrick

Exactly what do you mean by the "BASIC" model?
either on the bottom, or on the back it should tell you what model you have.

Get an SD Card in order to read the data from the machine.
Not all machines come with an SD Card. Any brand of SD Card will work.
Make sure that it is in the machine before each therapy session, so that the info can be read onto the SD Card.
Then import the info into OSCAR, to see how therapy is going for you.

When I say the basic model I mean the Airsense 10 "CPAP" not the "ELite", or the "Autoset" or the "For Her" just the AS 10 CPAP.

There are 4 AirSense 10 models available

1.. AirSense 10 CPAP
2.. AirSense 10 Elite
3.. AirSense 10 AutoSet
4.. AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her

The 1….AirSense 10 CPAP is considered the base model as it is fixed pressure only and extremely limited data available. It is NOT compatible with OSCAR because it doesn’t record any detailed data beyond hours of use and a generic AHI without event category breakdown.
OSCAR will tell you it isn’t compatible.

If you want detailed data that OSCAR shows people you need a machine that will record that data.
The AirSense 10 CPAP model will NOT show any detailed data.
If you want to use OSCAR you will need any of the other models….2, 3 or 4 in the above list.

Thanks very much Pugsy!! I guess I will just not have detailed data to start out with. Thanks again!

true. however, it also means that getting help here on the forum for whatever therapy difficulties you may face will be hard to come by. the forum leans rather heavily on the charts oscar produces(along with details in said chart) in order to diagnose most problems and offer suggestions for improvement. without that, you aren't going to be getting a lot of detailed offerings of help.

i don't say this in any sort of condescending manner. just wanted to let you know what you may face.

good luck!

Not just to start off with, but for the duration of when you are using that machine. 5 or more years?

Don't accept it, wait for an AutoSet (10 or 11)

You *might* be one of the rare individuals that puts on your CPAP, doesn't need detail data, doesn't need adjustments, or optimization, everything is problem free. But there's a pretty good change you aren't.

These forums ar here for a reason, to help those where things don't go well. There's thousands of CPAPs collecting dust in closets. The "CPAP" model will not provide any data to help. Read through a few therapy topics. Posters provide or are asked to provide graphs, then they can be helped, you will not have that option.

Accepting it would be a mistake.

Hi Zonker, I'm hoping that I can switch it out when they get the new models in stock, if not I may very well just buy one on my own dime...I'm not sure the price I would pay to not be tired all the time but it's a heck of a lot more than the cost of a CPAP to be sure ;)

Hi Dog Slobber,
If it were the case that I hadn't already been trying to get treatment for 10 months and the waiting for a different model wouldn't extend that time by another 2 months then I would wait, but I'm at the end of my rope, the medical system where I live is offensively bad with regards to things happening in a timely/effective/logical manner. I starting seeking help at the end of last year when my fatigue/sleepiness got so bad I had to quite my job as an Analytical Chemist because I just couldn't handle the complexity without wanting to cry every single day.
I'm sure you are likely correct about it being a mistake but if the CPAP seems promising at all I find a way to get a better one.

understood. if/when that becomes a reality, you can find a used machine either peer to peer or from secondwindcpap.com.

There is a way to get what you want and that is to have your doc write on the prescription the specific make and model of the cpap you want along with the words No substitutions.

I will have access to a New in the box unused Airsense Autoset 11 with a heated hose and humidifier if you are interested PM me your info.

Oday, get in touch with forum member LSAT. He sometimes has new/used machines for sale at reasonable prices. Other forum members who have purchased from him have been very satisfied.
Then you can keep this basic model as an emergency backup machine.
