I got fitted for the oral device last weekend, but it probably won’t be available until January, so we will see if I and wasting over $800 or not on it (insurance paid for half).

I am a very finicky sleeper as well, let me tell you...
1. I need earplugs to sleep
2. I can't have anything strapped to my head (why I use Bleep Dreamports)
3. Any movement wakes me up
The list goes on. Have you found a solution for CPAP, I've been working at it over a year now and finally just coming to terms and solutions for a few things. Don't give up on it and get an Oral device. I literally tried that a week ago, and now I got my settings dialed in through help here and it's been amazing..

I returned the CPAP machine months ago. I just paid $400 towards my cost of the oral appliance. I do wonder if it would have been smarter to just pay the $2,000 for eXcite OSA. I guess I will find out soon enough.

I managed to sleep through the whole night with my MAD! I took Ambien to fall asleep, but I stayed asleep and woke up feeling okay! Woohoo! I will attempt a drug free attempt after a few more successful drug induced nights. My wife said I still snored, but it was definitely quieter.

I can totally relate to you because that’s me you’re talking about! I had my sleep study 13 years ago and tried the machine but didn’t get patient information and had to return the machine. Went back to the same sleep Doctor Who gave me a lot of hope telling me that a lot of mass has been improved the past 13 years. Weight at eight months and just had gotten my Pap two months ago and struggled as well. Again same thing no patient information From either the provider or the DMe office. I’ve been caregiving for almost 3 years full-time and so I was really burnt out caregiving and not having any sleep which is the reason why I went back to the doctor. I was attempting to use the machine for a whole month not realizing the air pressure was too strong and the maskwas not the right fit. So I completely understand how you feel being able to fall asleep. Like zeeero. Like Brad mentioned that was kind of rude of some people blaming you. So because I kept persisting and giving feedback to the DME company, thank goodness the person I dealt with Listened to my frustrations and Asked that I return for a mask exchange…. And then we lowered the settings. While there was slight improvement (from zero sleep to 1.5-2 to several hours on some days), i’m still really tired and sometime this week as if I didn’t get any rest. So, I ordered the bleep ..and the experiment continues. While working with the settings somehow I am very very sensitive. I can’t seem to tolerate the air pressures. Beyond 7.5 blasting gets my tummy uncomfortable.

I took Ambien on Friday and Saturday and slept through both nights with the device. I haven’t tried since then. I plan to try again on Friday and Saturday but this time I will take Benadryl or melatonin instead, to see if I can pull it off with some milder. Assuming that works the following weekend I will attempt to use it without taking anything.

Thought you returned the machines a couple months ago… got it back?

I just got the bleep mask. The sleep pillow was really comfortable but it wasn’t shooting straight into my airway. It’s been really hard to find a mask that is working. The pillows was also very tough on the nasal rhinitis. Anyway I tried the bleep last night and I don’t like the adhesives. I don’t think I was able to tolerate more than a couple hours but I’m gonna try to work at it and continue using for a few more nights. If I really can’t tolerate it the next mask is the nasal pillows with the hose in the back of the head. Maybe I won’t go for a Rosemead brand next. Does anyone know if there’s any headgear for the nasal pillow with the holes in the back but has a strap headgear that is adjustable Velcro… I saw one online and I’m wondering if that is no longer manufactured? Anybody who is happy with that style of mask please give me your input

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say here.

Rosemead brand? Do you mean Resmed? Are you currently using a Resmed mask? If so, which one?

headgear for the nasal pillow with the holes in the back but has a strap headgear that is adjustable Velcro Do you mean that you are looking for a nasal pillow mask that has the hose connection at the top of the head? If so, the only masks that I'm aware of with that arrangement are the Resmed Airfit p30i mask, the Philips Resprionics DreamWear gel nasals pillow mask, and the Philips Respironics DreamWear silicone nasal pillow mask. All three of these have silicone hollow-tube frames that allow air to pass from the hose connection at the top of the head down to the nasal pillows themselves. The backstraps of the Airfit p30i and the DreamWear gel mask are cloth straps that I believe have adjustable Velcro on them. The DreamWear silicone mask has a different frame with a different back that is more substantial than the simple straps on the other two.

I did return the CPAP months ago. I just never bothered to update my profile. I kind of want to keep that up, just to remember what I had, in case I ever need that information again.

Victory is mine! I managed to sleep with the MAD last night without taking any drugs! My wife said I did not snore! Woohoo!
