Machine causing insomnia
Re: Machine causing insomnia
Don't you have the user manual for your machine? Even if you don't Pugsy provided a link to it online or you can easily google it yourself. And since I have the exact machine you say you have I looked at my manual and on page 5 are the directions to get to "My Options" that you can change without going into the clinical settings such as Ramp Time, Pressure Relief (EPR), etc. Check those and report the setting back.
Also check the left side of the machine to see if you have an SD card in the slot.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
This is an example of an OSCAR report for a 5 minute test I just did. If you will sit and use your machine for just 5 minutes you can load the data into OSCAR and post a screenshot showing your device settings. You may need to scroll down the left side so all the device settings will be captured.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
It says the ramp time is 20 minutes and the humidity setting is 4, and it is set for a full face mask.
There is no SD card in it.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
What is the pressure relief (EPR)?
When you go for your mask fitting tell them to give you an SD card. I had to ask my DME for mine. You can buy your own for less than $20 but it should be provided.
Get a copy of your prescription. Does it say your minimum setting should be 5? Ask for it to be raised to 7 like Pugsy said.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
um, has anyone else noticed this-
Additional Comments: Machine is actually a ResMed AirSense 11 Autoset CPAP Elite
this is in op's signature. doesn't this mean that oscar won't work with it?

Re: Machine causing insomnia
No, it means the OP is getting the details wrong.
The AirSense 11 manual, (like all ResMed Model manuals) is for all Air 11 models. The AutoSet, CPAP and Elite. The OP saw the three model names and interpreted them to mean a single model name.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
No it just means that he got the model name from the combo user manual he got with the machine. He got it wrong.
The only ResMed machine that OSCAR won't work with is the AirSense 10 CPAP machine and that's because that model machine doesn't record any data beyond summary data. There's nothing for OSCAR to work with.
Actually even if someone does have the AirSense 11 CPAP half assed brick there is additional data available and OSCAR will show the additional data. Main really bad thing about the AirSense 11 CPAP model is it still doesn't distinguish between centrals and OAs. That model doesn't use FOT. What you get in terms of data on the events graph is all UAs since the machine can't distinguish between centrals and apneas. We had this happen over on Jason's forum a while back and I got a chance to see what OSCAR can show with the base half assed brick CPAP model.
So AirSense 10 CPAP half assed brick model....that model has nothing for OSCAR to show.
The new AirSense 11 CPAP half assed brick model...actually has some graphs and other data available for OSCAR to show but it still can't distinguish between centrals and obstructives. You get UAs or hyponeas and that's it.
I have seen the reports myself so I know what I say is true.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
i see. i did a quick search and saw this-
https://www.resmed.com/en-us/healthcare ... -11-elite/
in which resmed has some bafflegab about it. but it doesn't show up at cpap.com.
besides op states a range of pressure so it couldn't be an elite. duh.
time for more coffee!!

Re: Machine causing insomnia
FWIW....since the OP is reporting that the settings on his machine is 5 to 15...we are assuming auto mode on the AutoSet.
Fairly safe assumption since the other fixed pressure modes wouldn't show a range of pressures.
Now what we don't know is
1...which auto mode...remember the AirSense 11 has the for Her auto mode built in and available
2...is EPR on or not but at this settings of 4 for ramp and minimum of 5...EPR even if it was on isn't going to be able to do much and for sure not able to really produce the exhale relief that might help the OP. Even at the setting of 3 when he gets to the 5 cm minimum the drop is only 1 cm and for most people when you combine that small of a drop with the already very low 5 cm pressure they aren't really going to feel the relief available.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
When I filled out my signature I saw a long scroll down list of machines. I didn’t see mine (AirSense 11, so I clicked on the AirSense 10 since I assumed it would be similar.
Do I need to get an SD card to run an Oscar report? Since I can’t sleep with it on I assumed those reports were pointless. Of course my only criteria is 1) Can I actually fall asleep? If yes, then 2)Is the wife complaining about snoring? If no, then all set.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
gotcha.
something odd just happened with forum software. as i was typing my response to dog, i saw an additional notification, which i now assume was you. but after i posted my response to dog, the notification went away.
must've all happened too quick for forum to catch up!

Look on the side of your machine to see the name. It's near the SD Card slot. Then look in the "A"s for AirSense instead of the "R"s for Resmed to choose it for your signature.joepublic23 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 10:54 amWhen I filled out my signature I saw a long scroll down list of machines. You need an SD card to get the data to your computer. You'll also need an SD card reader on your computer. I bought one on Amazon since my computer didn't have one.
You ALSO need an SD card to bring with you to your doctor. They want to see your data to confirm compliance and look at how you're doing. You'll be able to see the data yourself through OSCAR too.

Re: Machine causing insomnia
Like I said in a way earlier post.
The data that OSCAR shows from the SD card/machine isn't going to be very helpful because of the lack of sleep...all those graphs and any flagged events....useless since no sleep was obtained. So in terms of evaluation of the results it's useless when there is no sleep.
BUT....OSCAR can also report all the settings which are still beyond our crystal ball's range to see.
All the settings will show up clearly on the left side of those graphs....
Those settings...extremely useful.
Any generic cheap SD card will work. You may have one laying around in an old camera or something.
Or Walmart has them.
Get an SD card...put it in the machine...don't even worry about using the machine....get OSCAR...pull the SD card and put it in your computer and use OSCAR to download from the SD card...
We will at least get all the settings and that is a big help.
Don't forget to put the SD card back in the cpap machine when you are done downloading. It must be in the machine to get all the graphs and stuff.

I don’t think I need to bring the SD card to the Doctors office, the machine has a data plan to send all of that information out or to allow them to reprogram it, if necessary.mummmz wrote: ↑Fri Jul 15, 2022 11:10 amLook on the side of your machine to see the name. The start pressure is 4.
It is set for EPR full time
EPR level is 3
It says my AHI is 6.4, although my sleep study said 6.1
