Airsense 11 available???

Post by bucko » Thu Jun 30, 2022 3:32 pm

My DME ordered my Resmed and told me it is 8-12 weeks delay to get my CPAP. Now it is over 12 weeks and they tell me to wait another 2-5 weeks.

I am curious from you all how long it took you to receive your Resmed Autosense 11 from your DME?

There are severe supply shortages. I ordered from EasyBreathe and had to wait about 2 months.

2-3 months is not out of the ordinary.

I had to wait 3 months. I wore nasal strips and slept on my side until I got it, worked well enough.

I guess I got lucky. Apria had my 11 in stock when it was ordered last week. There was no delay.

Interesting that their website does not even list the 11 in their products listings.

I've been waiting since August 2021

If I had had the $$$$, I could have already had my machine by buying it out of pocket.

I just got mine today. I started the process to get a new machine a few weeks ago because a) it's been 5 years this week, and b) I have a recalled Dreamstation and they haven't done anything for me to replace/fix it. When I first talked to my DME at first they were going to give me a ResVent. I told them I didn't want that and would prefer a Resmed, so they said there was a waiting list of a few months minimum. I asked to be put on the list because I'd rather wait than get a ResVent. Then a few days later they called saying they just got a few Resmeds in and scheduled my appointment to drop it off for today (I wasn't eligible for a new machine until Tuesday, yay insurance).

Of course today when the RT showed up he brought in a ResVent and started setting it up. While he was setting it up I was looking at the paperwork he brought, and I noticed it said S10 and not S11, so I asked if it was an S10 instead of an S11. He said "That's what they put for everything regardless of what you get." I said that doesn't really make sense, why would they print a Delivery Receipt that isn't accurate. But I said at least it's a Resmed even if it's a 10 instead of 11 like they told me I would get. Then I specifically asked if the machine he had was a 10 and he says "No, it's not a Resmed, that's a different machine, this is Resvent." I told him I didn't want that, I specifically asked for a Resmed Airsense 11. He goes "Oh, really? You specifically asked for the Resmed? Ok, well I have one in my car so I'll get it." I wanted to tell him of course he has one, it's for me. It was also weird when he was hooking up the hose to the Resvent (before I realized it was a Resvent) and I asked if it was a heated hose, he goes "No, this one doesn't have a heated hose (which was the first sign I should've asked because I knew the Resmed has a heated hose). The heated hose is only to stop condensation in the hose, and this one has....something....built in....the way they do it....that doesn't happen." He had no clue. Then again he was also showing me how to use the Resmed and he goes "You won't be able to change the settings, I set them for you", and then within seconds after he walked out the door I started changing the settings.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. Bottom line, I would recommend sticking with the wait list because it might come in much sooner than they estimate. I'm glad I asked about it instead of letting them just give me the Resvent junk.

Compujas, I might have the exact wording incorrect, but one of our members is fond of saying "If a DME says the sky is blue, you better go outside and check, because he's probably lying."

Glad you stuck to your guns and didn't swallow the swill the DME was trying to feed you.

Good job compujas. This is likely a game they play with each of their customers - a little slight of hand magic trick. IF you're not paying attention the Resmed turns into a Resvent and poof he is out of there.

btw - you did the right thing refusing that mess - what is the name of this DME?
I'm gonna guess Apria or Lincare?

I am in CA. I've been stuck here the last 2.5 years after coming here Jan 2020 because of my Dad's passing. Been living out of a suitcase since.
I have no choice but to continue waiting. My DME is called SG Homecare.

Good for you compujas.

When you get a chance you might edit your profile and change your location so as to avoid confusion.
We can't remember you past posts and your profile still reflects a China location.

Lol, yeah, I can definitely understand that. I don't want to assume it was malicious and figured it was just an overworked RT running from appointment to appointment and not necessarily being given the proper information (given the paperwork from the DME didn't even have the right info on it, so how could the RT know what's correct without the right info). But of course I wouldn't be surprised if it was malicious too. At least he didn't put up a fight and immediately accepted that I wanted a different one.

Dynamic Healthcare Services. They've been decent otherwise, gave me all good information, didn't try selling me on anything other than what I asked for, telling me what's available and what isn't, asking what kind of mask I use and if I want to try anything else or stick with it, etc. I wouldn't steer anyone away from them for being scummy, just recommend paying attention and doublechecking, but that advice should apply everywhere in life. To me it feels more like a lack of behind-the-scenes organization leading to the RTs not knowing what to do.

Also, to add to it, I asked for an Amara View mask, but he brought Dreamwear full face instead because they didn't have the Amara in stock. I told him I tried the Dreamwear and didn't like it so he said he'd make a note that he didn't leave the mask and they'd send an Amara when they get them. So again, I don't necessarily lean towards malice, just glad I checked and asked.
