REMstar Plus

Post by ApniaticBill » Wed Jun 29, 2022 7:33 am

I have an O L D REMstar Plus M200 that I'm using until the DME can get a new machine for me. It has been set up per my Dr's instructions to the DME..

Because it is so old, no one seems to be able to tell me (or not worth the research) whether this is a CPAP or a BiPAP. The machine says BiPAP on the label on the machine but there is some confusion whether this is a trademark or ???

Thanks for any clarification

Bill

It's a fixed single pressure machine and it is CPAP and NOT a BiPap despite the term showing on the sticker on the bottom.
Years ago when this model was new all of Respironics machine whether cpap or bipap models had the "BiPap" sticker on them.
Why? Don't know but it was common practice and a common question years ago.

You have a CPAP machine.

Label selected by the same dude who was in charge of foam selection?

  Very possible. The overall consensus back then was that Respironics simply had an over supply of bipap stickers and decided to use them up.

I know my first two M series APAPs back then had bipap stickers on them. I don't remember about the first System One models I had. By then it was old news and not worth reading.

If we wanted to get really technical about it if someone used exhale relief back then on the cpap/apap model they would be using bilevel pressures anyway and since anyone "could" use exhale relief then it "could" be a bilevel.

It is a Trademark label.
The Plus model provides no useful data just hours used
- it was a very cheap model.

And a very old, outdated machine. Well past time for a new one.
Have you had this all along, or did the DME give it to you (hopefully didn't sell or rent it to you) until a new machine can be supplied?

The old Remstars were bullet proof. Still have four of these machines. All of mine are CPAP.
