Need Full Mask Help

Post by No snore » Mon Jun 27, 2022 3:16 pm

For 18 years I've used nasal masks. Due to extreme dry mouth upon waking I have been taping my mouth which I don't like. I'm trying to use FF masks. I've tested F20 and Evora FF, but my OAS have blown up as well AHI.
Hope to attach graphs.

You need more pressure....for sure the maximum and there's a good chance you need more minimum as well.

Any special reason you are restricting the pressure so much?

It's quite common to need more pressure to get the same results when going from a nasal mask to a full face mask.
Don't know the exact reason but it's common and I have seen it often.

First thing to do is allow more maximum and see if the machine going higher can do an adequate job preventing the events from happening in the first place and if that doesn't work you need more minimum as well.

Another thought...sleeping position...are you by chance spending more time on your back with the FFM which will also worsen OSA and/or cause a need for more pressure?

Thanks for the info, I'll give that a try with the Evora FF, I get leaks with the F20 at current pressures. Thought about trying cervical collar.

Cervical collar might help if the problem is a change in position of the airway that is causing the airway to collapse more or be more resistant to the cpap pressure holding the airway open well enough.
It comes with its own baggage though....more stuff around the face/head and now neck.
But some people do it and it helps a lot and they don't have a problem using the cervical collars.

Look at your report...whenever you see a flat line on the max pressure because it can't go higher along with dense clusters of OAs or hyponeas.......you need at least more maximum and maybe more minimum. If it was just a brief kissing of the max that wouldn't be so bad but you are going up and staying up and the machine desperately wants to go higher. How much higher we don't have any way to know.

welcome to the zoo!

i've been using a cervical collar for a number of years. my experience was that my ahi dropped by only one full point with it's use.

your mileage may vary, of course.

good luck.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I don't relish the thought of something around my neck. If pressure changes don't work out. I'll go back to nasal and tape.
