Very Dry Nose Using New Breas Z2 CPAP

Post by s_beecher1 » Mon Jun 27, 2022 7:56 am

I just got a Breas Z2 CPAP for a trip I will be taking to England in the fall. I"m a 72 year old woman and really don't want to carry my current Red Med CPAP. However, I tried the Z2 last night for the first time and my nose hurt so bad in the middle of the night, I took the CPAP off. The inside of my nose was burning. I did have the little humidifier device on the Z2. Yes, I do use the water box on my Res Med. I'm very concerned that the Z2 isn't going to work for me! Any advice?

Some people just need more added moisture to their nose than that little disc that can be used with the Z2 can deliver.
It's a common complaint about those tiny travel machines.....the lack of adequate humidity delivery.
I have long known that using minimal to none added moisture simply won't work for me because my nose needs lots of added moisture. For that reason I simply haven't ever looked at purchasing one of the travel machines and instead just accepted the fact that I have to take my regular machine and humidifier when I travel.

Some people can get by with pre wetting that little humidity disc thing...and it provides enough moisture to get them by.
When that doesn't work....return the Z2 and get happy with taking your regular machine on your travels.

Sorry for my slow response, I was traveling! Yes, it does work. I tried researching about the issue and could find nothing except for warnings from the manufacturer who wants us to buy a new humidifier thing every two weeks. I kid you not. I cleaned it every 4 or 5 days in a vinegar solution on my trip out West this summer. This past month I took the Breas CPAP with me on a two week trip to the UK and used it every night. I didn't clean it as I had no way to do that easily. I asked my doctor about this and she wasn't at all worried.
I am very happy with the Breas travel CPAP. There was no way I was going to carry my bulky Resmed CPAP with me all over the UK!!
