Adjust heat on ResMed Airsense 10 for her?

Post by MoneyGal » Mon Jun 27, 2022 7:45 am

Hi all, I'd like to turn off the heat to the humidifier in my ResMed Airsense 10 For Her.

Googling suggests there should be a "climate control" option in the "My Options" section of the control panel. I don't seem to have that option available, perhaps because I'm not using a heated tube?

It's high summer here (Canada) and I don't want to be breating heated air. I'd like to at least try passive (i.e., non-heated) humidification, especially when the ambient air is already extremely humid.

Any help appreciated, thank you!!

When you don't use a heated hose you won't see "climate control" option in the menu.
You should see "humidity" control though and all you need to do is turn it down to 0 to turn off the heat to the water chamber.

Bear in mind that when a heated hose isn't used and the humidity selection is the only option that the machine doesn't really heat the air all that much. The humidity control selection only warms the water and any air warming comes from the water being warmed.

Remember that it all starts with the temperature of the incoming air from the ambient bedroom air temps.
If it's pretty warm...the air you are going to be breathing is going to be at least that ambient bedroom air temp and turning off the warming feature to the water may not give you the desired results you were wanting.

Thank you!

When you say,

>If it's pretty warm...the air you are going to be breathing is going to be at least that ambient bedroom air temp and turning off the warming feature to the water may not give you the desired results you were wanting.

what do you mean?

what do you mean?
The air temp being delivered to you at the mask level all starts with the air temp of the air in the bedroom.
If your bedroom air temp is 75 degrees Fah....then what you get at the mask level is going to be at least that warm.
The machine has zero ability to cool down warm air coming from the bedroom.
Think about it for a minute....the machine sucks in the air in the bedroom so it can blow air into the hose/mask.
The temperature of the air in the bedroom is just part of that air that is getting sucked in.

The amount of warmth transferred to the air from the water being heated....isn't nearly as much as people might think.
A lot of the time the real culprit is the bedroom air temp to start with.
You can try turning off the heat to the water but just be aware it may not give you the results you desire.
It all depends on how warm (or not) you keep your house in general.

Oh, I understand! IMO the heatplate on my humidifier is very "hot." I have turned it down to 1 and I will see if that makes a difference. Thank you again!
