I am two weeks into CPAP , and my readings are fantastic, all less that 1.0, many less that 0.5 . Anyway, I have looked at Oscar, and Sleep HQ, and being a retired electronics instructor, I just like the look and simplicity of Sleep HQ. I think the price is a bit steep for the paid version, he would probably get many more people signing up if he dropped the monthly fee to something like $5. So I am just going to continue with the free version. I also don't believe that some hacker is going to comb through the number of apneas I have on the internet. Hackers have bigger fish to fry than devoting their time and energy to worthless info.

Ias well prefer Sleep HQ over Oscar, no comparison in my opinion. I also agree that the monthly fee is way out of line and I will continue with the free version as long as it is there. If it goes away and the steep monthly version is all there is then I as will bid Bye, Bye.

With those numbers, it doesn't sound like you need help troubleshooting therapy. So from my point of view, your choice of software would fall mostly into the category of choosing personal entertainment.

With your background, you might enjoy eventually using both. With my background and having similar numbers to yours, I have learned neither. Maybe one day I will be more curious and less lazy.

As a Newbie, I love this discussion.
Finally, I understand the differences between Oscar and Sleephq !
I started to load Oscar and spend time deciphering the great contents.

Does it help/make sense to use both software?

Thank you

Both are especially useful for troubleshooting less-than-optimal therapy. So most here using the software are doing so either to ask for help or to give help.

However, both also have a certain entertainment value, if you are into that sort of thing. And both have educational value for learning about sleep breathing.

I'd say no, you're going to get a little more information from Oscar, and more detailed ways to view it.

So far, I haven't seen anything that SleepHQ gives you that Oscar doesn't, other than the ability to let other people more easily look at your data, (without having to zip up the contents of your SD card, like with Oscar).

It's really up to you though.

to get what I need off the screen.
My brain is full--may I be excused from this discussion?

So far, I haven't seen anything that SleepHQ gives you that Oscar doesn't, other than the ability to let other people more easily look at your data, (without having to zip up the contents of your SD card, like with Oscar).
That's a big, important proviso for a lot of folks---particularly for newbies with both xPAP problems and a bit of computer phobia. Given that most new xPAPers are in their 50s and 60s, there are a heck of a lot of young Boomers and early Gen Xers struggling with xPAP and many of those folks in their 50s and 60s are not genuinely computer literate. In other words, it's easier for some of them to make sense of instructions that say "post your data to SleepHQ so I can look at it" rather than "zip the contents of your SD card and post it to DropBox (or email it) so I can take a look at it".

And as someone who has had folks zip the SD contents so I could look at it in Oscar, I have to say I kind of prefer not having to create yet another Oscar profile to load the person's data and then remember to delete that profile when I'm done with it. In other words, as a helper, it's easier for me to look at data posted to SleepHQ instead of repeatedly going through the posts telling folks I need them to zoom in on this particular area of the Oscar data.

In other words, if I were not feeling particularly decent and I suddenly found myself looking at my data in Oscar and seeing something that really didn't make much sense to me AND I was hoping for some significant feedback on things to try, I'd be inclined to post the data at SleepHQ and ask the folks here to zoom in and scroll through it and tell me what they think might be going on and what I might ought to try.

No demerits will be issued; however, you will be later disqualified from awards consideration.

Exactly what I'm saying.

And worth mentioning, I think this part of SleepHQ will remain free.
