New user with a few questions!

Post by hakiyu » Wed Jun 22, 2022 5:34 am

I’m on a trial for a cpap machine, my AHI is 26.4. I have a ResMed I think, and it’s currently on apap. I generally have zero issues getting to sleep and thought this would be really easy. The thing is, not only is it hard to not have the machine leak, but the little nasal cushion things that rest under my nose force air out of my throat. It’s the weirdest sensation. How does everyone deal with that?

I definitely need to try some new mask types and I’m happy to get something more fulsome… but do they all force the air out through your throat?

Hopefully I can get to sleep tonight, but it was just such an off putting sensation last night that I couldn’t leave it on, and I desperately want a full nights sleep.

Thank you :)

Welcome to the forum.

Where are you located?

Have you sat down and just practiced using the mask and machine while awake and under no pressure to go to sleep?

I am having trouble understanding your problem as this description isn't a common complaint. Where is the air going that you think is being forced out of your throat? Are you by chance having air enter your mouth and cause your cheeks to inflate?
