Hi All... I am a first time user of OSCAR and just loaded my first night's data...

What can I say? This is very cool stuff!!! The information, analysis and trending information are far superior than what I can get from ResMed's MyAir mobile app and web portal...

The one thing that I am trying to figure out how to fix is the time reporting... All my events are starting and ending one hour earlier than they should be reporting...

I set my ResMed AirSense 11 to GMT-8 (which is Pacific Standard)...I had to erase all the data from my machine to do this because the clinician left the GMT-0 default, and apparently you can only change the timezone if you erase your data, which seems odd...

And then in OSCAR I also set my profile to GMT-8. The only difference is that OSCAR has a checkbox for DST, which I clicked because we are currently in Daylight Savings Time (and my assumption is that I should always leave it checked because my location recognizes DST...I don't think I am supposed to go in and check and uncheck that box when daylight and standard time starts)...

Any ideas how to get my times reporting accurately?

The DST checking box in OSCAR has never worked like we think it would work.

With the AirSense 11 models there is zero clock to set that would make going back and forth with DST or stand time easy.
You have to erase past data to set a new time zone. PITA "improvement"..cough, cough.

Anyway...in OSCAR there is a feature for setting clock drift problems. While originally designed to help with older machines and internal battery clock drift....it can be used to bypass this problem with the AirSense 11 models.

Go to Preferences....cpap tab...ad adjust the drift so your clock reported time matches real time.
Or just ignore it....hours of sleep is the same no matter what the reported clock time might show.

I agree that hours and data aren't really dependent on the accuracy of the time event windows... That said, I am a bit AR when it comes to this kind of stuff...

Given my preference to fix this, what is the best way to do so?

Should I just use the "sledgehammer" approach and use the OSCAR feature you mentioned that is designed to address time drift?

Or is there a more academically correct way to fix this by playing around with the timezone settings (and the DST OSCAR setting)?

And given that the DST checkbox isn't really working as designed, should I leave it checked or unchecked?

Me personally....I would just use the clock drift function and alter the time by one hour.
I did it with my AirCurve 10 machine just to see if it would work like I thought it should work and it works just fine.
Now I do have a clock on my machine that I can set but it's easy to just use OSCAR since that is the only software I am going to use anyway.

The clock drift thing was originally designed for Respironics machines that never had an internal clock that we could set and as the machines aged the battery would slowly cause a clock drift.
It was something that was done long before ResMed decided to do the AirSense 11 models without a clock that we could change. Hence the warning about not using it for DST stuff BUT....it works and doesn't hurt anything so why not use it in this situation??

Erasing prior data could present a problem for the users who are still within compliance usage requirements in terms of insurance paying for their equipment.....can't prove compliance without the old data.

It's easy to do...easily undone...and hurts nothing and no data disappears. No brainer to my thinking.
Besides....there are some people where having the correct time is critical in case they want to sync up times....like the people wearing a pulse oximeter during the night.

Alternately you can also alter your profile time zone in OSCAR but that (for me anyway) involves more "work" than just using the clock drift function.

Unfortunately I have never found a way to make the DST setting check box do what I wanted it to do. Quite honestly I always just would say under my breath "why in the hell do we keep having this box for us to check and it doesn't do a damn thing"....
Trust me...over the years with SleepyHead/OSCAR and various updates ....I have tried to make it work but it just is a useless feature.

If you hang around here very long you will learn that I am a lazy sot....and I never want to do or will do anymore "work" more than is absolutely necessary.
Your only real choices are to alter your time zone in your profile (which you can edit your profile to change it) or just make use of the clock drift function.

Or just leave it and shrug your shoulders and know that this fall it will correct itself.

Funny that the setting falls within the CPAP tab... A time shift like that I would have expected to be in the General tab...
