Can anyone recommend CPAP Pillow?

Post by jumblegirl » Tue Jun 21, 2022 8:43 am

Can anyone recommend a pillow that is less likely to make the mask fall off or slide around and leak. I keep getting one or 2 hours missing data where I don't know what happened but assume mask came off. Anything that is comfortable but will help keep the mask on. I use a soft down pillow now, for stomach sleepers which I can't really do anymore but it works ok.

If you are using SmartStop enabled or turned on....turn it off.
That way if the mask slips off your placement on the face....the machine will keep blowing air and you can see it on the reports.
This will help you figure out if the missing 2 hours or whatever you see on the reports is related to mask coming off or if it points to something else.

so what is weird is that when I looked at the screen on the machine at like 3 am it had 3 blue bouncing dots on it, along with the pressure level which was low like 3-4 - I have it set now to Autoset for her just to try it out so I don't know if it's from that but I thought this was during the time when there's no data on the graph.

unless I hallucinated it haha but I'll take a photo tonight :)

I don't remember seeing a report where there was a large block of empty space on the report graphs from you.
Did I just miss it?
Do you ever take a nap with the machine on during the day?

Theres also no red pressure line just the green EPAP I don't know if that's to do with my mask or the setting of Autoset for her
(I will go ahead an post it in my original thread to keep it in one place, sorry)

You've got EPR off - hence only one pressure line. Same pressure for inhale and exhale.

As far as pillows go, I use a down pillow from LL Bean. I can squish it around my mask easily and shape it just about any way I need. I use the Nuance nasal mask for reference.

There are pillows with c-shaped cut-outs on the side for larger masks - I think Amazon has them and probably CPAP.com does, too. Not everything works for everyone, you may just have to try a few to find what you like.

With xPAP therapy, do or do not; there is no try.

um, guys? may i humbly suggest most of this conversation belongs in jumble's therapy thread? she started this for pillow advice.

it can get kind of confusing for those of us following along at home.

thank you!

Down-alternative, medium to low height for me.
I found mine on clearance at B3--likely the last of that model on earth.
Down is too spendy to try, and I slept (not well) on feathers as a child.
I suspect possible allergies . . .
My good pillow has a nice satin case--the cat loves it.

I've spent the last 13 years just sleeping towards the edge of a regular pillow, no muss, no fuss, no extra expense.

me too. and come to think of it, it may have been you that suggested it to me.

this works very well with my p10 nasal pillows. i have no idea how it would work with other types of masks, though.

No I never sleep past noon - I guess that would affect Oscar data then? Lucky if I sleep past 5am.

Sorry zonked I will try to keep it in the therapy thread :)

The years I did that successfully depended on the type of mask I had. And when unsuccessful, it resulted in cramped neck and shoulders.
I ordered a CPAP pillow from Amazon - based my choice on some of the opinions there. e.g. - avoided pillows reported as having a smell.... and tried to imagine what would fit my mask and favorite sleep position.

What works for one of us may not for another, and vice versa....

Resmed machines roll their data over at 'noon' (machine time).

Look at Oscar, if you've got data missing in the middle of the night, then ... see if you can figure out when, if there's a pattern.
