Since retirement, I prefer to set my Resmed machine ahead an hour or two--
just in case I choose to enjoy my retirement by sleeping damn late.

I've spent the last 13 years just sleeping towards the edge of a regular pillow, no muss, no fuss, no extra expense.
The years I did that successfully depended on the type of mask I had. And when unsuccessful, it resulted in cramped neck and shoulders.
I ordered a CPAP pillow from Amazon - based my choice on some of the opinions there. e.g. - avoided pillows reported as having a smell.... and tried to imagine what would fit my mask and favorite sleep position.

What works for one of us may not for another, and vice versa....
i've been a proponent of "what works for me may not necessarily work for thee". but in this case, trying out sleeping on the edge of the pillow wouldn't cost jumblegirl a penny. if she found out it wasn't to her liking, she could then start spending money on a particular pillow to see if it works. if she started out spending money on a pillow and it didn't work, she may be going down a path of spending more before she found the one that would work for her.

me? i'm well known here for being cheap. not to mention lazy. so i would think it better to start with something that is both free and relatively hassle free.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Failure to follow this maxim is why there are four expensive CPAP pillows languishing for years somewhere in one of our linen closets.

Correct. I slept successfully on the edge of a pillow for many years.

The years I did that successfully depended on the type of mask I had.
Then I changed masks.
And found my neck and shoulders cramped.
And ordered a CPAP pillow.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.

i think we are in agreement???

anyway, jumblegirl seems to have settled on a cpap pillow so the discussion is moot.
