I used a Philips Respironics System One Auto for six years. For the entire six years I always felt that I was needing to match my breathing pattern to its rhythm, and it always bothered me until I fell asleep. If I woke up, though, it didn't seem to be as obtrusive. I understand this was perception on my part, it wasn't really forcing me to breathe in a particular rhythm, but it sure felt that way.

OTOH, my ResMed Auto has a very comfortable algorithm. I never feel like it's forcing me to breathe a certain way. I really like it.

I didn't notice the annoying way Philips Respironics does their pressure relief during the brief period of time I had one, but I've heard from *many* people who've had the same experience, and same feeling from their philips machine.

Yep, especially in the beginning I thought I HAD to breathe the way it was pushing me to, and that was not my normal rhythm. It was just uncomfortable. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
