Puffy lower eyelid

Post by LePaul » Fri Mar 18, 2022 7:59 am

Hi everyone

I've had ResMed Airsense 10 for almost 2 years. I am using the AirFit N30i mask/headgear

For the past few weeks, my lower right eyelid feels puffy. I almost feel like that lower eyelid is sticking when i blink. (Of course, its on my face so i notice is a lot !)

I clean the cushion and reservoir daily and use only Distilled Water I clean the mask and hose weekly

I've battled sinus issues off and on for a while and sometimes, I feel like an observer to the angry sinuses versus well intended cpap battle.

I just saw my doctor yesterday and referred me to an ear/nose/throat specialist. She gave me a 3 day Prednisone pack to help with the sinuses

I've been self treating where i can with sinus massage and lymphatic drainage (Yay, YouTube)

Has anyone else been down this road? Thanks!

Is the mask leaking into your eye? Does vented air bounce off sheets and back into your eye?

Do you happen to sleep on your right side?

Yes!

I was wondering if one of those bean bag type eye masks is something I should try (can he heated/warmed)

Its never woken me up from doing so. If anything, I'll wake up to adjust it from noise.

But still, very interesting

Can you position your head on the pillow edge so that there is not much pressure on that eye?

Or sleep on your left side and see if the left eye puffies?

Hey thanks for asking

So for the past two nights I have been using the sleep mask that came with my Purple mattress! The bean bag one felt a bit too heavy

I am noticing a big improvement. I honestly didn't pay much attention to how much air flows out of the front on the mask. It certainly makes sense that being a side sleeper, it can get blasted back into your eyes!

My doctor also gave me a 4 day prescription for Prednisone to help with my sinuses. While it is certainly helping there, I notice it is taking me forever to fall asleep, which is a known side effect.

That said, I think the eye mask and treating the sinus issue is a big help.

Maybe on the mend? A feeling less like Popeye! Uck uck uck uck! :D

Love your wit!

As I answered elsewhere, I think the blast from the front of the mask deflecting into my eye is a big factor. I have a Purple mattress and Purple Pillow...it is a bit on the softer side, so as I review the contributing factors, I'm sure that is part of it.

Hi !

I am still dealing with this and I do think it is my sinus pillow outflow deflecting into my face (being a side sleeper)

I have been using a cheap eye mask for a few weeks and that helped some The masks doesn't stay on very well, the elastics seem a bit weak

Can anyone suggest a good eye mask that would block the bottom of the eye really well?

Thank you

I've never been able to find an eye mask that the CPAP headgear didn't interfere with.

Sorry.

Although I've never had any eyes issues with pap therapy. I do have eyes issues, due to sinuses = conjunctivitis. Conjuntivitis can affect one or both eyes, in my case, both eyes. Not often though, thank goodness.

Not trying to frighten you, but years ago, prior to pap therapy, I woke up, with a slightly puffy eye lid, went to ER before it got worse, something had bit me, insect bite  Was given medication = resolved.

Hope you feel better. Wish you well.

I know I don’t have that. If I put in lubricating eye drops that helps a few hours later. It’s just the blast of eye ricocheting off my pillow into my eye

I had fairly good luck with swim goggles.
I punched a hole in the outside flap on each side to equalize air pressure around my eyes.

Zonker has a solution for the loose elastics.

i use one. not for air venting, just to help shield my eyes from light.

i bought some multiple pack of cheap ones on amazon. i found the elastic straps where uselees so cut them off and use a scunci headband over the top to hold it in place.
