Attachment storage is at capacity....EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS STICKY ABOUT ATTACHMENTS

Post by Pugsy » Wed Feb 09, 2022 9:14 pm

Well....looks like the closet is full again...can't attach images because storage capacity has been reached ....again.
I never heard back from Carolyn when it happened a short while ago and I notified her.

So...everyone go to your profiles and manually remove your old attachments again.

Thank you in advance...

Also we need to be more upfront telling newbies to not post (using the attachment feature) a gazillion images and encourage them to remove the ones we don't need.

Anyone who doesn't know what I am talking about....go to your user control panel and click on the "manage attachments" on the left side. You will then see all the attachments you have uploaded and stored on the forum server.
Just put a check mark in any old ones and then delete them.

dang it! and i JUST told a newbie to do the attachment thing.

also, for the rest of you, www.imgur.com is an image hosting site that is free. (if this is no longer the case, i'm sure someone will let me know.)

you upload your picture there and post a link to it here. it might sound confusing and may take some practice, but it works.

find the image you want at imgur. click on it and choose jpg. come back here and use the little landscape pic above, between what looks like an asterisk and a chain. then put drop your image there.

as i say, takes a bit of practice but it works.

(also i prolly shouldn't try to explain this after two glasses of wine!)

I only had 2--both were my steampunk leather covid mask.
I still have the mask, but it's all sweaty--too sweaty to use.

I don't think you have any either. I don't think I have ever seen you post a screen shot of anything.

Anyone who has and doesn't know how to check or clear out attachments...

Click on your profile name at the top right of the page.
Then click on "user control panel"
Then look on the left side tabs and click on "manage attachments"
From there you can put check marks in any attachments you want to delete from storage and then down at the bottom you can find the menu for "delete items checked" thing.

Hey folks....it's full again.
Can some of you go clean out your attachment folder?
If it has been a month or so and your topic is dead...they won't be of any benefit anyway.

May 4.....the forum storage is again full.

Everyone...if you have old posts using the attachment feature please go to your profile and under "manage attachments" just delete the old ones.

Right now no one can post images of their reports using the attachment feature.

The is an area that I can't get to and delete them myself.
I can delete them from a post but that won't fix the problem....they have to be deleted from the forum storage area and that can only be done by you via the manage attachment feature in your profile.

Please post a new topic yourself instead of this thread which has nothing to do with software for reading machine data.
It's going to get lost here.

Your account is fine. Not very many image attachments and all are very recent anyway.

The warning is mainly for people who have posted a bunch of useless images (we maybe asked for the images to be redone in a better format) and/or images are quite old and no longer useful...like maybe 6 months old or older.

Once you no longer need to share your images for any reason....then you can maybe clean things up a bit.

There are people with hundreds of attachments and they no longer come here so they are definitely no longer useful or needed. Those are the people I would like to strangle. As they are the ones hogging up the storage.

Is the images posted on imgur.com private, or can anyone on the internet see them?
