OSCAR v1.3.1 is released

This is a minor release of OSCAR. We do recommend updating, especially if using ResMed or Fisher & Paykel CPAP machines where improvements have been made since the last release.

Updated easily:
  • Made a backup of existing OSCAR_Data
  • Downloaded and executed 1.3.1
  • Imported last night's data
Everything worked perfectly (Mac 11.6).

Thank you!

Having been involved (in some fashion) with the development of sleepyhead from 0.98 and later (except for 1.1) and then Oscar, (though not much of late, I hope to change that), I have to say, from a somewhat insiders perspective that,

The OSCAR team is AMAZING. They've pulled together and work towards a common, and wholly different goal than the original SH developer, the goal of helping people., not personal aggrandizement, not making money, not puffing up their egos, they just want to make life a little better for people using cpaps.

I've watched the communications, the interpersonal workings and relationships, the way that they put their personal egos aside and work towards that common goal.

I have immense respect for everyone that's on the OSCAR team, they're (clearly, look at the release notes) making great progress at giving all of us a better tool to help improve our results.

Bravo folks, Bravo.

Well said. They could easily charge for it, but the fact that they don't shows how committed they are for people improving their health. I have made adjustments to my own therapy and a friend's based on OSCAR. I cannot thank them enough.

what I soft pedaled around is how incredibly different the environment is with the current group compared to what it was like during sleepyhead development. One was purely egocentric monomania (is that redundant?), the other is a spirit of calm cooperation, the OSCAR team is a breath of fresh air.

what i like about the oscar team is they are plainly open to feedback on the software. if it's not working for someone, they actually look at the users complaint instead of blowing them off.

not saying that was the case with sleepyhead, mind you. i'm just saying how dedicated the current chaps are to perfecting the software.
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

Is there a way to delete old data? I recently purchased a gently used BiPap machine, but when I imported my data yesterday into Oscar, I saw that the old data on there from 2018-2019. I didn't see a way to delete these old records though.

There is a way to remove the prior user's old data but until that old data is removed from the machine and the SD card...it will just keep coming back when OSCAR imports from the SD card.

You would need to erase all the old data from the machine and then from the SD card as well.

There's no direct way to delete old data. Easiest solution would be to create a new profile. In FIle/Preferences/Import, set the "do not import sessions older than" to when you started using your new machine.

If your new machine is by a different manufacturer than your previous machine, it should be in its own profile anyway.

This is my first machine, so there is no prior data.

I did decide today to ERASE the data but not for the reasons stated here. I could not change the TIME on the machine. It was three hours ahead. When I tried to change it, it did not allow me to do it without erasing the data.

So, I erased the SD card today, changed the date and time to the correct one and am starting over. Before I did that however, I did import the data into Oscar.

My new question is now: when I import new data, will it still keep the old data in Oscar even though I erased it on the SD card? I'm not sure if that makes sense or not.

That process will work fine.

Once data has been imported into OSCAR, it is stored in OSCAR's internal files and you are free to erase or use a different SD card.

Create a new profile and import to it when you have new data from the now erased machine and SD card.
You can leave the old profile if you wish and ignore it or you could delete it if you wish.
The old profile can be found in your MyDocuments folder under Profiles if you wish to delete it.

Or you can purge the old data using the purge function available in OSCAR...where you can purge selected dates.

Me...I would just create a new profile.

I will probably just create a new profile like you said, but how do I "purge selected dates"?

In Oscar look up at the top menu and click on "data"....then from the menu that opens click on "advanced" and the menu that then pops up shows the purge options.
