Resmed Aircurve Water Tank Mod

Post by Aretino » Fri Jan 21, 2022 9:35 am

Has anyone modified the Resmed Arcurve water tank in a way that makes filling easier? My thought is to make a 1/2" hole in the top of the tank to allow filling via a funnel. The new hole in the water tank could then be plugged with a rubber stopper. This would eliminate the need for removing the tank and opening the lid for filling and then sliding the tank back into position.

But if any ever accidentally spilled over the edge of the tank it could affect the rest of the insides.

(Gasp!)
You are absolutely RIGHT!
All the seals are in the interior. Water would go directly to the heating plate.

If this is such a problem, maybe you should turn off the humidity....then you wouldn't need to fill it.

Topping off the tank when you are not through sleeping is easy.
Just stop the machine, remove and open the tank, and pour.
No need to remove your mask; and you don't need a lot of light.
There is no need to over-engineer this little thing.

Do yourself a favor and make sure you have a spare tank before you make any changes.

Personally, I wouldn't do that. Esp. where I keep mine I wouldn't want to risk any spillage.

I don't use a funnel but pour directly out of the bottle into the holes already in the tank w/o opening it up.

Only Mod I made is the black marker line shown in my Avatar.

Sleepgeek:
I will try using the holes already in the tank--good idea!
I will, however put my marker line where the water line lands
when the tank is on its right side for filling.

EDIT: I just refilled the tank--and guess what!
The line already exists!
It is at the point where the tank starts to widen to go out of the Airsense cabinet!
Resmed is full of surprises. Good ones, too!

Refilling the tank without dumping the water is fine if one uses distilled water.

But, if one uses tap water, it will dramatically increase the mineral buildup. I use tap water, dump and refill every night, mineral build up isn't a problem.

Exactly, my mistake the lines in my avatar were computer added to highlight the wording for a select few here.

You must have a regular tank--the cleanable tank has no such nonsense on it.

From the picture, the additional reservoir acts as a very inefficient passover humidifier once the water level drops below the height of the lower tube.

A better design choice places the lower tube just above the level of the metal plate of the OEM tank.

For those visual learners this Mod requires "No Handtools" - I fill up once a week. I use No Heat, No Heated hose.
