Home Water distiller - Vevor 4L model

Post by amenite » Sat Jan 15, 2022 10:41 am

I use distilled water in my humidifier chamber since my tap water is ridiculously hard water. I've been running into extended shortages of the bottled stuff, and so I'm considering a home distiller - mainly since I found this one that's under $100. It would take years to pay for itself but I would not be running out in the dry months. Does anyone have experience with this particular one?

We have used an identical model, nameplated Kenmore, for years.
Not 4 quarts, but more like 3 and most of another.
Periodically deliming the interior is necessary for continued efficiency.

I don't have or need one, but the specs are good and, if I needed one that would be the one i'd buy. I have been looking for a ultrasonic cleaner, but I don't have any room left in the house to park it, that brand is the one i'd buy. it would be a 4L so it peaked my interest, had to check it out. would be nice to have when the SHTF, if you still had electric, they do have some that can be used over a fire or stove. That ultrasonic cleaner would be great in cleaning XPAP stuff & glasses. Jim

Thanks for the feedback, with my water I'd probably wind up doing a decent bit of de-scaling, and if i do get one this will be the unit I get.

Descale the distiller, or descale the cpap, either way there's going to be descaling going on.

Exactly, seems like the one shot descaling of the distiller periodically would be more efficient? Maybe I'll get lucky and supplies of the bottled stuff will rebound
