First you need a DC power cord for your cpap make & model.
Then you can use any 12V battery.
https://www.cpap.com/search?query=dc%20cord

Most people don't realize that using an inverter depletes a battery faster than plugging directly into the battery. Anyone using a cpap should have the right DC cord (and a battery backup) for their cpap for when the power goes out.
Then you can use any 12V battery you have on hand.

I use a jump start battery. They usu. have a USB port to charge cell phone, a light, and an air compressor.
Anytime you use battery power turn off the humidifier so the battery will last longer. Use in passover mode - just water no heat.
I like this one... https://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t649 ... on+gumbyct.

Hi, Thx for the info, is this one the DC power cord you mentioned for aircurve 10? https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... upply-cord

The seond link does't work... what is the 12V battery? Do you have a link so i know for sure what kind of that? Or the above link is the 12V battery? And the DC power cord is something else?

Thx!

This is the Resmed converter you need:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LG ... UTF8&psc=1

It plugs into a standard vehicle-looking accessory plug/cigarette lighter.

Depending on how many days of backup you want there are lots of different batteries you can plug into. A popular one is a 35 amp hour scooter battery like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K8 ... UTF8&psc=1

That will get you about five nights of cpap-ing.

Then you need a charger:

https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-S ... 12&sr=8-10

That comes with the ring terminal cable that connects to the battery.

Then this cable connects to that and has the female accessory plug that you plug the Resmed converter into:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041 ... UTF8&psc=1

Then you can go nuts and add a solar array on your roof to charge it when the power grid goes down permanently . . .

No, that is not the correct cord.

Here is the correct CPAP.COM link:

You can find cheaper off-brand ones on Amazon.

The Sears link above is broken and you would prob do better to buy something already assembled.
Unfortunately, the price of these jump starters has jumped quite a bit so any assembled battery should be of help. Just make sure you charge it before and after each use.

You can go sleepgeek's route and get an automotive jump pack with the accessory plug/cigarette lighter outlet + the Resmed converter. Depending on how big the jump pack is it will get you through an outage of a few hours or a couple of nights.

If you want a more permanent solution you can get the four things I mentioned, hook them up, and have a very viable solution for five-ish nights.

Either one will require the Resmed converter.

There are whole threads devoted to this topic. Here's one that is 22 pages and five years' worth.

Just in case you're a visual learner, here's a picture. In this one I added the splitter so I can charge the battery full time, even while it's in use.

thanks so much, the flow chart helps a lot, I just need the one when there is power outage, so I probably don't need the splitter and Battery Tender? What is the battery tender for? And how many hours usually the battery last? 8 to 24 hours? Thanks again!

Yes, you're going to need the Battery Tender, that's how you recharge the battery.

How long the battery lasts is dependant on your machine, humidity setting, heated hose, and battery capacity. Here is the ResMed battery guide:

I went with a pair of Freedom V2 batteries. No car cord needed, and charges using the Resmed brick you already have. Provides continuous power to your device through the outage. And since it's a health care device, and not an assembly of various automotive components, I could pay using pre-tax FSA dollars.
AirSence 10 Autoset, Dreamstation 2 backup, Swift FX, Z1 for travel.

Certainly an option, though one of the most expensive, excellent if you've got plenty of money you can't figure out where to spend.

That's why I recommend a jump starter to people - it includes the charger, the 12V receptacle, the case, and a carry handle all-in-one which makes it plug n play.

No matter which battery you choose the big difference is the size of the battery in amp hours (AH) (and weight). So the 1150 linked above has a 22AH battery. You can certainly get larger batteries just prob not in a jump starter. So then you have to decide if you want to build one.

When using battery power it is recommended to turn off the heat to the humidifier and hose to make the battery last longer. You can use water in the humidifier just no heat - its called passover - the air passes over the water and will pick up some moisture.

This 22AH jump starter recently last me 2 nites sleeping w/o the heat or humidifier.

It is always recommended to try everything out before you need it.

The 35 amp hour battery I listed lasts me 40 hours of CPAP time with a little left over.

The CPAP stays plugged into the rig full-time. I didn't even notice the last two power outages.
