What nasal canula? Why nasal canula? Oxygen???? If so there are hoses that allow for attaching O2 lines and there are adapters for adding O2 to cpap masks.

Impossible to know what sort of battery or how long it might last without knowing what machine and what pressures are used.

I don't see how CPAP can fit with COVID masking rules. If I were to sleep on flights I would use my AlaxoStent instead, but I realize that's not the equipment you have. Maybe I'd have somebody sew a cloth covering that could be tied over the CPAP mask exhaust.

Given that even some hospitals worry about aerosolizing COVID via CPAP exhaust, I don't blame the flight crew for stopping you.

I really don't think they'll allow this until COVID is over completely (or they invent a new CPAP exhaust system) . Even if you can put a compliant mask over the CPAP mask, a CPAP would blow virus particles all over the plane.

Considering the air systems in commercial airlines, I would consider using a cpap
on board a plane no worse than passing wind while wading in a septic tank.
But that's just me--and I have no future plans to fly.

Coronavirus study finds air on planes is safer than homes or operating rooms

the use of CPAP
What are your options? Staying awake during the flight? Postponing the trip?

I assume by "nasal cannula" you mean a CPAP mask that has nasal pillows.

Hello; I’m newbie in this site & need help.
Recently using my COAP on United and due to pandemic I needed to mask up per regulations which was not possible as I use a nasal cannula.
Would it be acceptable to sew mask on with hole to allow exterior portion of tubing and nasal cannula to be outside the mask?
Someone ckk on moraines and after 4 of 5 hour flight stewardess asked me to turn off my machine (which states rite on it “FAA” approved).
Also, does the altitude affect the use of CPAP.
Where can I buy a battery pack for my CPAP? How much do they cost; how long will it power the machine?
Thx VM!

Wearing a nasal CPAP mask or wearing a medical mask would be about the same. CPAP masks have vents and obviously air will escape into the plane in the form of fine aerosol spray. Large droplets will be contained within the tubing. Similarly, the basic cloth face masks will stop exhalation of large droplets but they can't contain fine aerosol spray which passes through the mask. If they did you wouldn't be able to breathe.

What is more important is that the aircraft has it's own air exchange system and all the air in the plane is totally replaced every 2-3 minutes, depending on the aircraft. Can you think of anywhere else that would happen? (Yes, only one place - outdoors). New air is brought in from the outside constantly. This make an airplanes environment far safer than a cafe or your own home where the air basically keeps recirculating. Consider this:

Southwest Airlines CEO Gary Kelly stated: "I think the case is very strong that masks don't add much, if anything, in the air cabin environment."

and

The data backs it up. According to the largest real-world study to date, conducted by Delta Air Lines, your chances of being exposed to COVID-19 on a flight whereby every passenger has tested negative (as per the policy on most routes) is less than 0.1 per cent. Separate findings from IATA, from early 2020 – CRUCIALLY before the use of face masks on flights became common practice – identified just 44 cases of potential coronavirus infections among the 1.2 billion people who traveled by air in that period.

So using your CPAP machine is not really going to cause any issues. If you're like me and do an overnighter I always fly business class so I can guarantee power, the ability to lie flat and also not annoy another passenger with my machine noise. I can't actually see how I would use my CPAP in economy. Where would I put it?

Contact the airline, tell them you're using a type of mask with your CPAP anyway and see what happens.

The only reasonable solution is VACCINATION.
Unfortunately, we cannot rope, hogtie, and vaccinate everybody not yet poked--
But I'd pay to see the video.

please note that op came back christmas day, but didn't acknowledge any responses, particularly pugsy's questions regarding his/her equipment.

why do people come here to ask questions, but then never follow up?
