How to turn off Remote monitoring

Post by lilly747 » Mon Nov 29, 2021 3:50 pm

I have a Resmed AirCurve 10. The MyAir remote monitoring is on. How do I turn it off? I know how to get into the Clinical Menu but can not find where to turn off the auto reporting to MtAir.

Thank You for any help

Only easy option would be to use airplane mode. The cellular part of the machine is not designed to be turned off permanently, unless you open up the machine and disconnect the comm board. That may cause compliance issues if your insurance company is paying for the machine, and will also likely void your warranty.

I just leave mine in airplane mode all the time, but I paid out of pocket so no issues for me.

You can't just turn off reporting to MyAir or ResMed.

Your options are:
  • Put it in AirPlane mode, but risk it uploading everything should you turn it off, without deleting the data.
  • Disconnect the Modem, not difficult, open it up and pull the modem connector.

If you have had the machine more than 3 months, chances are no one is monitoring. The purpose of monitoring is basically for insurance compliance purposes. That extends for the first 90 days. Doctors and DMEs still could look at your data, but it's unlikely unless you called with a problem.

Thanks to all for responding. I have had my machine for over 2 years now. I only need to report my date once a year to the sleep centers" doctor to renew my prescription for my supplies, which I get through Medicare. I only knew my data was being sent to MyAir because when I went in today for my appointment they already had my data.

It's not just that I don not want them reading my data, I also don't want the data being transmitted next to my head. Airplane mode is fine but I don't know how to get it in Airplane mode. I have played around with the knobs but I don't see an option for putting it in Airplane Mode. I feel a little stupid here, but HELP

Thanks

You want to turn this feature off because "I also don't want the data being transmitted next to my head."? What are you worried about? How close is your machine to your head while in use?

Just curious, do you use a cell phone?

Edit to add...

Not that it makes any real difference but MyAir is a phone app that works over Bluetooth while the data collected by clinicians uses cellular for data transfer.

Radio waves from a cell phone is exactly the same strength as that emitted by your cpap..
The FCC sets acceptable SAFE levels for both, and enforces both stringently.
Now if your bed were resting in the radar antenna at an airbase--
THAT might mess you up some.

I've had mine for a couple if years. Every few months my machine sends me a message I'm due for supplies then the dme starts calling me. I've switched insurance companies but the dme
always knows who my insurance is and that I'm in compliance. On the good side they have always managed to get all the paperwork through before they even start calling me. They are still monitoring mine. 🙄.

Maybe not monitoring you but instead have software that kicks out reminders at just about the same time as the machine's reminders.
I got phone calls like that from the DME I used for masks only since I have never used my insurance for a machine so no one has ever even known what machine I am currently using and no way for them to "monitor" my usage.

I would agree with you except I've changed the frequency of the reminders multiple times and still like clockwork every three months I get the message then the phone calls start. Maybe / probably they have some kind of software that does it for them?

How about turning off the reminders on your machine and see if they stop calling or not.
I am betting they don't.
