events related to mask styles
Hello all,
It has been a while since I have posted anything. My doc has still not prescribed a new machine. I am using a Resmed autosense 10 VAuto and trying to find settings that work. My CA events have trended down of late, the problem lately is aerophagia. I have noticed that different masks have a different relationship with events. My preference is a Resmed Airlfit 10. My events tend to be high with that mask, but its great for side sleeping. The mask that works the best to control events is the Resmed Mirage Liberty, but not a great side sleeping mask. I think I know the reason for the event difference, but feedback would be appreciated.

You gave very little information.sleepyincolorado wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 6:20 pmI think I know the reason for the event difference, but feedback would be appreciated.
Event types? Event lengths? Number of events? Number of events per hour? Pressure settings? Leak level?
The best thing to do is post a couple of OSCAR Daily Details charts - see posts at top of index page.
F10 or P10?

Following are the last three screenshots. There one that is the lowest is with the Resmed Liberty Hybrid Mask. The first two are with the airfit pilots style.

So what do you think it is that might explain the difference in results with the masks being different?sleepyincolorado wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 6:20 pmI think I know the reason for the event difference,
You originally had an AirSense 10 of some sort for a while....now you have this AirCurve...are you waiting on something else? If so, why?
You don't happen to have any AirSense 10 reports available do you?
I assume with your account ID name you live in Colorado??? What altitude are you living at?
What is your official sleep apnea diagnosis? Do you have a copy of the sleep study? Was it done at home or in a sleep lab setting?
Is your doctor aware of these results?
I have one thought that might explain the difference in the number of centrals between the mask types and it relates to the venting system being different ever so slightly and causing too much carbon dioxide wash out with the traditional full face masks that cover the nose.

Re: events related to mask styles
I think the difference is either what you suggested or I cannot keep my trap shut no matter what I try.
I do have the Airsense 10 reports, they are quite a bit worse. The best I could get with that machine was in the 20's and 30's, the worst was 80-100.
The official diagnosis was complex apnea with CA leading the charge. The sleep lab for some reason titrated and decided to put me on the AirSense machine. All agreed it was the wrong therapy and went to the Aircurve 10 vauto. Still wrong in my opinion, but getting them to prescribe the correct machine has been difficult at best.
Let me know if you would like to see the data from the original machine, I have about 6 month's worth.
The problem with the doc is that they shuffled me off to a PA instead of the doc. I will be calling for sure. Any suggestions?

So, just heard back from my doctor and they want me to do another titration. They already have all the information from my sleep lab and separate titration studies and nine months worth of data. Is there a way around this, maybe an online doc or whatever?

Make sure ahead of time that the titration will include an ASV machine (adaptive servo-ventilation). I'm guessing that's what they plan, but I think checking ahead of time would be a good idea. If they DON'T plan to trial ASV settings, explain (as nicely as you can) that you insist on trying out the machine that is typically recommended for mixed or central apnea such as yours, given that vanilla PAP and bi-level PAP are both failing to do the job.
Will the titration be at the same altitude as the altitude you live at?

Yes, very close, maybe 500-800 lower.
