every night I use my cpap 8 hours or more. last night I only had to get up once to go to the bathroom. I woke up at 4.30 am, felt good. had trouble getting back to sleep. had to listen to a history audiobook to put me back to sleep again. woke up at 7 am. I try to get myself on a good sleeping schedule. go to bed at 11 up at 7. I can't break that 4 to 5 am break.
I'd say it's fairly normal for most people, certainly anyone over 50, to get up at least once at night to use the bathroom. Looks like you're doing good with CPAP. Gives me some hope!

don't know if this will help or not, but there is a list that goes by the awful name of "sleep hygiene". while the name isn't the best, it DOES list out some helpful tips on getting a good night's sleep-
https://www.healthline.com/health/sleep ... ottom-line
now, me, i don't follow every little thing on this list. coffee and wine are still my nemesis. but the times i've stuck to limited quantities of both, my sleep has improved with less wake ups.
if only i could just tell 1pm zonker that if he has one more cup of coffee, 1am zonker won't like it...

Thanks for that link. I think I can tick nearly all the boxes apart form the aerobic exercise one. But that has only been a temporary lapse since I started CPAP therapy - I've just been too tired.

its tough to get old. I'm 68. retired now for 7 years. 40 years on the RR. 6 hours sleep is all I need. I can't remember when I had a solid night of 8 hours sleep. I have mild sleep apnea. when I have an event. my number drops to 70. my blood oxygen dropped below normal a little. last week I got a blood test. oxygen level went back up to normal. cpap is working for me. my air app shows I'm only having .5 to 2 events per hour. cpap works if we put our mind to it.

I'm not too far behind you, Ray. I'm 65 tomorrow! I'm fairly sure I've had sleep apnea for years, but two failed sleep lab studies (about 12 and 8 years ago respectively - couldn't sleep) put an end to that. It was only this summer I discovered that it was possible to do a home test. And that showed I had "moderate" sleep apnea (22.6 AHI). But that finding hides what was really going on. While the number of events was moderate, the duration was anything but. The mean duration was 28 seconds and the longest OA was 1 min 12 seconds! Also my mean oxygen saturation while asleep was only 87% and fell as low as 63% at one stage. So, I definitely need CPAP treatment. After a good night on Thursday, it was back to business as usual last night with frequent arousals and lengthy periods awake. I gave up around 4-00 am and then struggled to get anything other than about an hour of broken sleep without the mask. It's frustrating but I know others have had similar experiences. The yo-yo or two steps forward and one back pattern is fairly common apparently. Sometimes there's an obvious reason for a worse night's sleep (eating later than usual for example), but on others like last night, there's no obvious explanation. So, it looks like it's going to be a long haul for me.

my air sense 11 will be with me the rest of my life. when I have an apnea its severe. I almost stop breathing. 10 years ago my doctor wanted me to go in for a sleep test because I wasn't getting a good nights sleep. nobody can function on 4 hours sleep over night. I turned it down. this past April my blood test came back with low blood oxygen. I have to go in for a sleep test. my first lab test was a disaster. after 2 hours of trying to sleep with all the wires on me. I told them to take everything off. I'm going home to sleep. two days later I get a call from them. are you willing to take a home study. yes. I take the home study I do have apnea but not many 3 events per hour but severe. one problem. medicare wont pay for my equipment because they want 5 or more events to get everything paid. my reply the hell with the government. I will pay for my equipment. doctor said why should you pay for it when you do have a problem. they made me come back for another lab study. this sleep study found what I have. medicare will pay now. the girl that did the study on me said if you have 15 or more events per hour they will put a mask on me. she came in and woke me up after 6 hours of good sleep study with out the mask. I said no mask. nope. she wont tell me my test results till I see the doctor. I see the doctor. he wanted me to come back for another test just with the mask on. my reply we done enough sleep test. I need a prescription for my cpap equipment. I have to see him again in 2 weeks. they will decide if I have to come in for a study with the mask on. last night I went to bed at 11 got up at 4 had trouble falling back to sleep again. I put on the podcast I fell to sleep I figure around 5 am. got up at 8 am with 9 hours of treatment. my app showed 1 event per hour. my score was 100. I'm on this thing for life. for what this equipment cost. its dirt cheap.

Take a few OSCAR screenshots and show him how well you are doing without his stupid titration study.
