I was so sick from the first shot I will NOT do that again
You really need that second shot plus the third shot booster, specially now that a significant number of new infections are breakthrough infections.
Whichever vaccine gave you the bad reaction, you can avoid it once mix-and-matching become legally available.

Excerpt:
Study after study has shown that people who receive two different COVID-19 vaccines generate potent immune responses, with side effects no worse than those caused by standard regimens.
But now, for the first time, researchers have shown that such ‘mix and match’ regimens are highly effective at preventing COVID-19 — roughly matching or even exceeding the performance of mRNA vaccines.
The high antibody levels and other strong immune responses elicited by mix-and-match regimens suggested they would offer good protection against disease. Still, “I was delighted to see that it’s as effective as one would expect,” says immunologist Martina Sester at Saarland University in Homburg, Germany. “This is really good news and this will certainly have influence on clinical practice.”

I had the J and J, so no second shot was needed or so they said at the time.
Considering the major reaction, 102 fever 48 hours, still swollen thyroid, brain fog, mouth sores, stomach issues, heart palpitations and the fact neither hubby nor I feel right months later we have made our decision together. By the way, we had the shots from two different national pharmacies several weeks apart from each other. We are definitely not going to mix and match. They have antibodies and other stuff to treat covid with now. (And I am not talking about the dog dewormer) When they have the kinks worked out of the vaccines, maybe I will revisit the issue. For now, until the vaccine makers and the medical community acknowledges valid concerns and varying opinions and stops shaming those who raise questions, I will take a hard pass.

American Thyroid Association
Is it safe for me to have the vaccine with a thyroid condition?
The vaccines in current use have been tested and the FDA approved Comirnaty and issued Emergency Use Authorizations for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines in the USA. Clinical trials have included thousands of patients, some of whom have had thyroid conditions. Currently, there is no evidence that having thyroid disease makes you at higher risk for vaccine-related problems.
Will I develop a thyroid disorder if I get a COVID-19 vaccine?
There are rare reports of people developing thyroid disorders after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. These reports are being monitored, and over time research will determine if they are related to the COVID-19 vaccine.

FWIW, I have very well treated Sleep Apnea, Kidney Disease and am overweight and 63 years old. I got Covid in January of this year, before I could get vaccinated.
My Covid experience itself was not too bad, like a bad flu. I got the Monoclonal antibodies and I was never in danger of being hospitalized. However, I have "Long Haul" symptoms, and have been terribly fatigued since January. Anecdote does not equal data, but this anecdote may support the hypothesis.
Take care,
Andy

I am told I have to wait for my booster, because I need more white cells
to create antibodies. My blood tests will tell my oncologist when a booster can "take".
This makes me wonder why some people have severe reactions to vaccine.
I know about allergies to preservatives, etc, but maybe, "some day" there will be
ways to tailor vaccine to best fit each patient.
"One size fits all" may be all we have now, but it should not be considered a goal.
It is amazing that science created these vaccines in the short time they did---
but the work is not done--not by a long shot.
Our job is clear--get the shot ASAP.

I can’t imagine how difficult being a long hauler must be. I have a friend who is technically over COVID, but went from being completely healthy to being unable to work or walk a few hundred feet. It’s unfortunate that when considering vaccinations and other limited medical resource allocations, death rates rather than long term health consequences seem to be the main considerations. Even before I read this study, it made logical sense to me that those of us who need a machine to help splint our airways open at night so we can get enough oxygen are likely more susceptible to negative outcomes with severe respiratory viruses.
I hope they keep researching and can figure out how to help long haulers like you get back to better health! Thanks for sharing your story!

Pardon me if I but in here..... I have years of thyroid problems and am being treated for them... and I have had my shots, plus the booster (all Physr ..cant spell) and have had NO problems with any of it. As a matter of fact, I had my booster shot in my left arm and my flu shot in the right at the same time, still had no problems. We all have different reactions with the same things and we all react differently..... are we not all the same species but do not react to things the same. There is no sense in beating the problem to death..... just get off your behind and get the shot!!!!
Cheers
Nan
