Hi yall. I am a 7 year user of the Oracle mouth mask with the included silicone nostril plugs in size large. I have found especially on the right nostril that the large size is just slightly too small and sometimes slips out or leaks a air. The company does not make a larger size. I asked my Sleep doc office and they said the company does not and will not make any larger plugs. The office person gave me an idea to use in-nose nasal pillows and tape off the hole that lets air pass. Interesting idea! She then sent a message back saying that the Doctor got upset with this advice since it was not FDA approved (I privately laughed - I mean a nose plug is a nose plug)

So, do any of you have any ideas for an in-nostril plug that might be a little large for me? There are not any simple plugs available on the market that I can find.

WHAT ABOUT THIS interesting idea the tech mentioned? Are there in-nostril nasal pillows that could act as a plug for me as a hack? I know nothing about that type of device.

BTW I definitely don't want to use a nasal clip like for swimmers. I have found that they cause very bad skin problems when left on for 8 hours

3M Micropore tape. A couple layers will seal you right up. You'd have to experiment if going this route. I imagine it's also not FDA approved

Moldable silicone earplugs, like Mack's.

If you try tape, be sure to fold over an edge so you have something to grab when you remove it.

Based on the frog's suggestion I was thinking ear stopples maybe? The wax ones? I may have to try that.

The 3M tape has been OK on the skin overall. I have found it varies in stickiness between batches somewhat. Or perhaps I got a batch of imposter 3M rolls of tape at some point? Hard to say. I also tried those spirometry clips at one point and they didn't work for me.

The CPAP world is not designed for the slotted nares crowd. It's like being left handed in a right hander's world.

The Sinus Savers company is apparently still in business as they answered a facebook post, but not an email.

I might start looking at the possibility of a hybrid mask such as the resmed airfit f30. Heck I haven't changed masks in 7 years and new stuff is out. I will make a separate post after a search first.

Ive tired a few hybrids also but alas my slotted nares don't properly cover the nose holes. Thought about trying some modifications there but silicone is not easy to work with.

The Mack's plugs are soft, MOLDABLE silicone.
They can be formed to fit any shape opening--even SQUARE!
One may think they are wax--but they are not.

I just tried a hybrid mask at the recommendation of my DME, but it was leak city around the nose. I have a very thin face. A liner at first seemed to solve the problem and then a second try with one was yet a again leak-aggedon.

So back to my tried and true Oracle mouth mask. Just like a scuba regulator. I am intrigued by your idea on how to upsize my nose plugs. Cool beans... shall investigate.
