Newbie problems

Post by Jstr427 » Mon Nov 08, 2021 6:54 am

I can't keep my mask on all night...at some point I take it off and turn the machine off with no memory of doing it. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you overcome it... thanks in advance for any help.

Well done finding this forum. It is chock full of helpful folks. The typical baseline information that is needed for those knowledgable to help are what kind of mask and CPAP machine, and how long have you been using it.

It is a common problem as one gets used to a new way of sleeping. I am only 8+ months into therapy and had a period where I would take the bloody thing off in the middle of the night and not remember, but over time have stopped as I got more used to wearing it. One thing that helped me was using it while awake reading or watching the telly.

I suggest you install OSCAR on your computer to gather information for those well-versed in all things CPAP to help. Take a gander at this web page to help get things set up and to know what information to post. Read the wiki's to better understand what is needed to solicit help

To answer your question about your mask....try taping the straps to your face. If you try to pull it off, you will wake up.

When taping, get a little hair under it, and make it more difficult to reach the off button.

One other idea I've seen: wear a cap over your mask. The key is for the cap to tie under your chin. Weird source for options: try googling "Medieval cap with ties."
