Buying a Used CPAP & Registered Owner

Post by Grumpy48 » Tue Nov 02, 2021 11:36 am

Another thread had a DreamStation 2 for sale which I'm assuming was a replacement for a DS1. When I received my DS2 as a DS1 replacement the serial number for the new DS2 is 'registered' to my name as was the DS1, both at Philips and my DME. This serial number is also tagged to my account for CareOrchestrator and DreamMapper. If a person purchases a used machine in a private sale, DS2 or any other, the machine may have likely been registered at the manufacturer and the DME to the original owner when it was sold new. Has anyone ever had a machine serial number transferred and can a used machine (private sale) be registered to a host site like CareOrchestrator/DreamMapper or Resmed's version for purposes of proof of compliancy such as for the DOT? In DreamMapper my DS2 serial number appears to be fixed and can not be removed by me or changed ("Please contact your Home Care Provider to update your Device Serial Number."). Not sure a DME would want to provide support for a machine they didn't sell(?)

You might want to ask your insce. co. about that... hopefully someone else here will know more.
