welcome to the zoo!

the trouble with cpap when you first start out is that it's all very new to you. you've spent your whole life breathing in and out. you're brain is used to doing things one way. now this pesky machine is trying to change things!!

also, what i've found from this forum is that your doctor or dme probably has your machine settings wrong. lots of times, it will be set "wide open" from a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 20. it is very hard to breath against that minimum of 4, believe it or not.

could you look at your settings and tell us what your minimum and maximum are?

thank you.

The pressure in the mask is very low. It does not take a lot of pressure to exhale when wearing the mask. Under normal conditions, I exhale against 16 cm pressure. It sounds like a lot, but it is much easier than exhaling when I am in the middle of an asthma attack.

The clinical manual is where you learn to check what your settings are, and it shows you how to change them if needed. The clinical manual is different from the user manual. You need the clinical manual. It requires some reading and effort on your part, but is well worth your time. As GrumpyHare suggested above, read https://www.resmed.com.au/hubfs/downloa ... ac-eng.pdf

no. what he gave you the link for is the CLINICIAN manual, not the user manual.

we understand it's prescribed; we're trying to find out what the minimum and maximum is, because, believe it or not, they might not have done it properly.

so please get the manual he linked so you can give us the info.

good luck!

Oledad, did you mean that you do feel resistance when you breathe out, or that you don’t? People might be interpreting your post in different ways.

you can. you just don't want to.

i realize that sounds mean, but i don't mean it that way, honestly!

can you tell us what the minimum and maximum pressure is?

If you are a visual learner, you may find this YouTube video helpful of someone (Nick from Australia - and sorta one of the more famous in the CPAP world) explaining the Clinician Menu and scrolling around the various settings.

Bottom Line, Get comfortable with your machine and its settings - don't be afraid.
Write down all the settings in case you change a setting and want to go back.
Don't worry...your DME or doctor is not going to look at your setting and yell at you for changing anything - they may get upset that they don't have total control over you anymore now that you're educated to their level but that's a different story!

Nick - YouTube Link - ResMed AirSense 10 Clinician Menu ----> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIfHud8ZhDE
* This is the internet - what I write will probably NOT come across as it would in person; where one can read a person's face.
My posts are sometimes tongue & cheek w/some snarky sarcasm mixed in.
I leave it up to you to figure it out!
