Cpap machine
Cpap machine
So I’m in the uk, my machine is loaned to me by the hospital, but it’s an old Philips system one machine, I’m thinking of buying my own machine, looking at the air sense 10, with heated tube, would this give me more control over my ahi score….. currently my Philips is set to a constant 7

Hopefully, the System One has had its foam replaced . . .
If you can afford to self-pay, go for it, but specify Airsense 10 AUTOSET
or AUTOSET FOR HER. The Elite and "CPAP" models are limited to single pressure.
The "free" loaners seem to be intended for those who have no choice.

Re: Cpap machine
I just received an AirSense autoset that replaces my old 11 years old System One. The difference is remarkable. Understand that I just have one night of data on the Resmed and the two machines seem to compile things differently but, I can say the Resmed feels better to breathe against (I have it in apap mode with min pressure of 8 and max of 18 and my median pressure was 10 which is slightly lower than my average of 11 on the System One.)
My AHI is similar to what I was getting on the System One but I had significantly less other events overall than on a typical night on the Philips. I had difficulty falling asleep because of mask noise issues due to a now functioning humidifier I set way too high at first and had to tweak several times from my bedtime to 2AM (my System One's humidifier didn't work all that well anymore). I changed mask at 2AM for a new one I planned on testing in a few days then fell asleep not long after and slept to morning without further issues.
But even with less actual sleep hours than I'm used to, I feel surprisingly well rested today so I'm guessing the therapy was better than my 11 years old System One was giving me.

Re: Cpap machine
Algorithms are different on the machines, though basics otherwise the same... but far more people like Resmed in general than Philips, so that alone can tell you something. Glad you like the new one.

It hasn’t, the reply I had from hospital was to keep using it until I get a replacement….chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 11:32 amHopefully, the System One has had its foam replaced . . .

oh that's good. i thought you were going to report something horribly high. that certainly seems more than acceptable, but of course that's up to you.Juggsy75 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 1:12 pm30 day average is 1.1zonker wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 11:33 amwhat is your ahi currently?Juggsy75 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 11:14 amSo I’m in the uk, my machine is loaned to me by the hospital, but it’s an old Philips system one machine, I’m thinking of buying my own machine, looking at the air sense 10, with heated tube, would this give me more control over my ahi score….. currently my Philips is set to a constant 7
there is a good chance you'll see improvement in it with you being able to control and tweak the settings yourself. also, most folks who have gone from philips to resmed find that they like the resmed experience much more overall.
so yeah, if you want to get the resmed go right ahead.
you know the forum will be here ready to help.
