OK, FWIW, I popped out the "new" cushions and replaced it with one of the many clamshell packaged cushions. It was like night and day. The leaks were no longer apparent, no need to constantly adjust the cushions etc.

Whatever ResMed did to the new n30i cushions, it won't work for me!

. . .
I assume the ResMed has heard complaints about the new style and material.
I doubt they actually "heard" anything at all.
Get you hooked on a quality product, then degrade it over time to increase profit margin.

It would not be the first time that has happened.

I have used both the new and original n30i cushions and I prefer the original. I do like that the new one diffuses the air much better and quieter. I have two issues:
For me the new design feels more difficult for me to exhale almost like I am starved for air.
And secondly I love the mask but I am a side sleeper and when I lie on my side I hear the air flowing down the tube and the noise really disturbs me even though I use a sound machine. I have tried using felt wraps around the tubes but still hear the swishing of the air.
If anyone has a solution I would be very thankful as I really think it’s a great mask.

I stopped using the 30i initially because of the noise but I started wearing a small cheap bluetooth earbud in one ear and a comfortable earplug in the other. Very happy with that setup.

Cpap 2017, thanks for your response but also concerned about having those buds in your ears all night. I tried regular ear plugs and for me it seemed to enhance the turbulence.

Yea, it's a bit of trial and error. I'm a side sleeper and I found one that doesn't bother me on that side. Earplugs are quite varied and one kind should eventually work. As far as listening to a music mix or book while going to sleep, I found the sound would later wake me up during a lighter sleep cycle or a louder piece of music would just break through. Bad. But I found that most audio services have a turn-off timer. After a few nights I found that 23 minutes was a sweet spot for me. I'm nearly always asleep before that and it shuts off before I cycle up to a lighter sleep. So for the rest of night it just acts as an earplug. Here's the one I use. It's reasonably priced, pretty small, comes with three earpiece sizes and is NOT sold as a pair so there's no syncing confusion between paired earbuds.

Thanks cpap 2017, will look at your link. I’m really trying to see if anyone else has any suggestions. I even tried a pad from pad a cheek that has the entire tubing on each side wrapped with soft fleece. This didn’t help with the noise either.
