For my fellow Aussie on here - As we have awesome consumer protection laws down here, I reached out to the store where I purchased my Philips Dreamstation about 18 months ago to see what could be done.
They explained that if I purchased a replacement unit from their store and returned my Philips, that I could apply for a full refund for the Dreamstation. As it turned out, I had already purchased an Airsense 10 when the recall notice came out and when I provided my invoice, they sent a form to fill out and my refund is underway.
Better outcome rather than receiving an unwanted Dreamstation 2.
According to the ACCC - if the faulty item is classified as a major fault, then you have the option of either having it replaced or a refund.

Wonderful!
Too bad OUR "representatives" are more obligated to those
who fill their pockets with filthy bribes than to us who voted for them.

Australia does have awesome consumer protection laws. But those consumer protection laws aren't free. With the stronger laws, comes greater expense to manufacturers and vendors. The greater expense then translates to much higher prices.
Aussies are famous for bragging about their great consumer protection laws, while complaining about how much more expensive goods are.

Yep. Case in point as to why so many Aussies end up ordering cpap machines from the US.Dog Slobber wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:51 amAussies are famous for bragging about their great consumer protection laws, while complaining about how much more expensive goods are.
Nothing in life is ever free....we all pay for everything we get in one way or another.
Pay now or pay later or pay higher taxes and get it "free".....we still pay.
That old risk vs rewards thing rearing its ugly head again. It's everywhere.
Like the UK NHS "free" health care....I forget how much UK citizens pay in taxes but it's a big chunk of their income.

The only ones who get by cheap are those who can afford a very good tax guy.

Re: Fellow Aussies - Philips Dreamstation refund
We even miss out on some consumer products due to company being worried about warranty claims so I certainly agree that it comes at a price.
Considering I am about to get $1600 bucks back for my DreamStation, I am happy to paid that little extra in the first place.
And you're right about 'free' health care as it's similar here in Oz. 'Free' but I pay at extra at the end of the financial year, pay every time I go to the doctors or get a scan, pay for hospital insurance on top of that and get penalized for every year that I don't have it.
Like I tell my kids - the terms 'free' and 'fair' are only used to explain concepts to children (or used by politicians when they are lying about something) and are not actually real.

We tell our kids here in the USA the same thing!
Then again...it's probably a saying that is told all around the world by most parents!
