Re: Austin TX best sleep Doctor?
That would be nice but this is a weird little slice of healthcare. The docs know the theory but nothing about how the machines or masks work. The DME's just want you to buy stuff. None of them cares about how your apnea is controlled by CPAP, just how many hours per night you use it because that's what insurance companies care about.
Sleep clinic techs know the most but you only ever see them one night during your sleep test.
The folks here are the most knowledgeable and available and approachable for help. If you can follow advice and simple instructions you can get your therapy dialed in and succeed. If you don't there's a huge chance your device will end up gathering dust in your closet (or in lsat's gently used machine inventory). The washout rate is horrible because the sleep apnea healthcare system is broken.
Once you get use to the situation it's kind of empowering. It's bleeding over into the rest of my healthcare. Now I just tell my regular doc what I want to happen and she signs the prescriptions and test orders.
