I upgraded to 1.3. now how do I load the data from 1.2
I can create a new profile and load from the SD card ... but can't load old data
I see an export data, but not an import
After reading through the thread "upgraded and lost all my data .. it seems that I am "SOL"
I upgraded from 1.2 and didn't lose a thing. I don't know why some people lost data but it appears to be very rare.

It seems people try to make upgrading more difficult than it is.
Normally, you just install the new version of OSCAR and then run OSCAR. It will automatically use the same database that the previous version of OSCAR used.
The one catch is that the internal database format for some machines change. When that happens, OSCAR has to upgrade the database for that machine. Upgrading consists of rebuilding the data for that machine from the backup directory that OSCAR maintains (at OSCAR_Data/Profies/<your profile name>/<machine name>/Backup. If for some reason that Backup directory is incomplete, then OSCAR cannot rebuild the entire history for that machine.

It Would be nice if there was an option to import existing data from a internal or external hard disk.

Some of those options exist, depending on what you want to import.
If you are importing SD card or Backup data, click on import, then Choose/Specify to get a file open directory. Navigate to where the SD card data (or OSCAR Backup directory), and import. That can be an SD card slot, a hard drive somewhere on your computer, or event a network location.
If you want to import an OSCAR profile from a different OSCAR_Data database, and if the profile has a different name than your current profile, you can simply copy the profile directory to your new OSCAR_Data/Profiles directory. If it has the same name and you don't want to overwrite your current data, it is possible to change the name of a profile. See
http://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.ph ... ofile_Page for directions on changing a profile name. Note that you can skip steps 3) and 4) as those files are built automatically by OSCAR.
If you mean you want to import OSCAR's internal database into a new format, we don't do that directly because it gets very complicated depending on the old and new versions. It may not even be possible if the old version had errors. That is why we import by "rebuilding from backup" as that will use the most current import technology.

I tried to install the Mac version of 1.3.0 and was unable to under Mac OS 12.1. I get the following pop up:
“OSCAR” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified.
This item is on the disk image “OSCAR-1.3.0.dmg”. Firefox downloaded this disk image today at 7:44 AM from www.sleepfiles.com.
Any advice?

After downloading it, right-click (or Control-Click) , you can then open it and install it.

We tried to update Oscar but can’t get it to open. (I am 91 years old so kinda inept on computers) I have used sleepyhead and Oscar for years but lost it when I tried to update to 3.1. It will not open. I have had the Geek squad try three times and they cannot get it to open. What do I need to do differently? I really use the program and have been without it almost a month. Please help me

Were you able to
install OSCAR 1.3.1? If not, what happens when you try to run the installer?
Assuming you were able to install OSCAR successfully, what
exactly happens when you double-click on the OSCAR icon?
In your Documents\OSCAR_Data directory, there is a directory named "logs." In that directory should be a file named "debug.txt." Upload it to
my Dropbox folder. Please include your forum name in the file name so we know who the file is from.

Thank you so much for answering my plea for help. Just before I heard from you, I received a suggestion from a request I made on the general forum to change from Software Engine to Graphics engine and it worked! I am so thankful to have Oscar running again. We depend on it to continue to help us sleep well. Thank you!
