Can Sleep Apnea effect my Weight Loss?

Post by faysalals » Fri Oct 15, 2021 8:33 pm

Ive been trying to lose weight for almost 8 years now and failing. While weight loss isnt easy, everyone around me do see results if they put minor effort. They even have cheat meals and dont go to the gym and still lose weight. But I do extreme efforts to lose weight and I get minor results or fail to do so!

I just discovered I have Sleep Apnea so can Sleep Apnea be the cause of all this?

When I use my CPAP, how soon will it start helping me lose weight? does it take years?

Some people have less trouble losing weight--or they could be lying.
Treating apnea can help, if your apnea is responsible for your weight gain.
Sometimes there is no connection.

When I first went on pap 3 years ago I lost 60 lbs. It was because I had more energy and was able to go to the gym often. When the lockdowns happened and my gym was shut I gained a lot back. I'm still down but not near what it was. So basically it gave me the energy to do the things I needed to lose weight now I just need to find the motivation to do it again.

Maybe. It could be that you have more energy and can now do what you need to lose weight, but don't count on any magic pills.

I lost almost 90 lbs after starting CPAP therapy, but it sure wasn't easy.

I honestly have normal energy even with sleep apnea. Its the same energy after I used the CPAP nothing changed. I also dont wake up in the middle of the night like doctors ask.

I lost a lot of weight after being on cpap therapy. But you have to be on the cpap machine a while. For me, it was a gradual thing. I buy into the more energy thing, but it could also be that getting proper sleep helps restore body. Sleep apnea interrupts your sleep and messes with your organs... thyroid, kidneys, heart lungs, etc... When you treat your body with proper sleep (cpap therapy) those organs start working as they should and you may start to lose weight.
